INFORMATION
Dear Visitor,
The successful participation in Fine Food Australia in previous years prompted the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber to again organise an official Austrian pavilion showcasing the country’s high quality produce at this year’s show.
Austrian food is rich in tradition and its history reaches far back. The Austrian Emperor Franz-Josef was known to be a gourmet and, gourmand that he was, he relished good food. In fact, the famous “Sacher Torte” achieved popularity due to the culinary habits of this Habsburg monarch.
Today, enjoying good food is of utmost importance to many Austrian consumers. At the same time, Austria is considered to be the number 1 “organic country” in Europe. Besides having been home to the first registered organic farm in the world, founded in 1927, Austria was also the first country in the world to establish national regulations for organic farming. With 20.000 organic farms, Austria has the highest share of such farms of any EU country.
The interest in obtaining “a taste of Austria” is growing worldwide, and an ever increasing number of consumers around the globe are appreciating fine Austrian food and beverages. With an export rate of 60%, the Austrian agricultural and food industry has become a key driver of the country's outstanding economic performance. In addition to the leading role played by fine cheeses, preserves, fruit juices and energy drinks, supplies to the international markets include confectionery, pastries and other sweet delicacies.
On the occasion of the Fine Food Exhibition in Sydney we have organised the participation of a number of successful Austrian manufacturers who are presented in detail on the following pages. We hope you feel tempted by what is on offer. Visit our pavilion and enjoy the taste of Austria!
