Dear Brother Knights , I ampleased to send this writing to youfor by now we are all aware, orshould be, that we have officiallyappointed the officers of the Su-preme Subordinate Commanderiesof Liberia, Sierra Leone,and theUnited States. This act has pro-claimed a step toward the future ofour organization and demonstratesthe willingness of your SupremeBoard of Directors to fulfill theneeds of the members. We are nowfaced with the responsibility to en-sure that your appointed officershave all that is required to not onlyform the new Supreme SubordinateCommanderies, but that they sub-mit proper By-Laws, organize afunctional structure for meetings,and most of all to ensure that allmembers are represented. I person-ally feel that the officers appointedhave the understanding and theheart felt desire to move our greatOrder forward, and with the utmostrespect to the membership. How-ever, this process will be trying toboth, the officers and the member-ship, we must all conduct ourselvesas Brother Knights and respect theprincipals of our Order. We can allagree to disagree, but in the end,we must come to the best decisionthat is best for the Knights of StJohn International.We congratulateyou for your desire to function as aSupreme Subordinate Commanderyand only time will tell how greatyour desire to function as one is. Ihave faith and respect for all myBrother Knights, please show thesame respect toward me, not as yourPresident, but as your Brother, thatyou will do all in God’s name to or-ganize and continue to function foryears long after me.
As I continue to inform the mem-bership as to the issues in front ofyour Supreme Board of Directors, Imust say that the 2018 SupremeConvention is still eluding us. Atthe present time, we have no re-

It has been an invigorating past30 days, coming off the last Su-preme Executive Board Meetingand the New York Grand Conven-tion. Both always informative andexciting experiences. First off, Iwant to congratulate the newly ap-pointed Supreme Subordinate Of-ficers. A list of those appointmentscan be found elsewhere in this Jour-nal. The responsibility of formingthese Supreme Subordinate Com-manderies will be a challenge forall of you and be sure to know that Iam there, always, to grant any as-sistance that I can. Especially de-manding will be the responsibili-ties of the Supreme SubordinateSecretaries. Consider yourself thefunnel that controls the flow of in-formation from the Supreme Secre-tary to your Grand, District & Lo-cal Commanderies. Everything willflow through you, both ways. Thismethod has worked exceedinglywell with the Supreme SubordinateCommanderies of Ghana and Nige-ria and my plan is to continue it inLiber ia , S ierra Leone and theUnited States. This assures thatthere is a constant, understandableflow of communication to and fromthe Supreme.
Disappointing, is the hesitationof United States Grand Com-manderies to take on the next Su-preme Convention. Skillfully orga-nized, with team-work and coopera-tion a Supreme Convention can bea substantial money-maker for aGrand Commandery. Problem, as Isee it, events such as these are puton by a handful of people and theyfeel that they can control, guide andrun every aspect of the function.There is no delegation of duties, thechairman does it all. As a result,not everything that should be doneis accomplished properly and usu-ally the outcome is shoddy. Timewas, when Commanderies wouldstep in and take responsibility forseparate aspects of the convention

Peace be with you!
How often have we heard thephrase: “Time Fl ies , or “Timewaits for no one”. Perhaps you haveother phrases tell ing how timepasses us by quickly.
I offered a message to you rightbefore the season of Lent. That sea-son of grace, along with Easter andPentecost , has come and gone.Through these spiritual and litur-gical seasons, we celebrated ourfaith in Jesus Christ, renewed ourpromise to Him and received thatawesome gift of the Holy Spirit.
The season of Lent and Easterand the celebration of Pentecostreminded us of the importance ofour faith, discipleship, and steward-ship. It reminded us that our faithis not merely a “head trip.” It is alifestyle of practical activity. It isliving and sharing and caring aboutour brothers and sisters in the hu-man family.
Our faith also leads us to dis-cipleship. Each of us are called toproclaim the message of JesusChrist and assist in building up thekingdom of God here on earth. With-out discipleship, we are just a fig-ure of molecules.
Finally, our faith encourages usto demonstrate stewardship in ourlives. Our stewardship of time-tal-ent-treasure must always be for theglory of God and upli ft ing Hispeople.
As always, I am grateful for yourfaith, discipleship, and stewardship.I pray Our Loving Savior and theHoly Spirit will always engage youand work through you in buildingup His kingdom here on earth.
Faith, discipleship, and steward-ship are who we are as Knights ofSt. John International and LadiesAuxiliary. May we always remindourselves of this.

The Sixty-Seventh Annual National BowlingTournament was held in Sterling Heights,Michigan on the weekend of April 21, 22 and23, 2017.
The Sports Committee would like to thankGen. Dale Gossiaux and the members of TheMichigan Grand Commandery for hosting thisannual tournament.
The annual Supreme Officers match gameswere not held this year, but several of thebowlers showed up on Friday evening at thebowling alley to throw a few practice games.
On Friday and Saturday, the local commit-tee provided a hospitality room for our enjoy-ment and fellowship. Both days were very wellattended.
Twenty teams participated in the tournamentwhich was a little less than last year, but therewere several new bowlers this year, hopefullythey enjoyed themselves enough that they willbowl in future tournaments.
Next year’s tournament will be held in Buf-falo, New York. The dates of the tournamentwill be April 27, 28 and 29, 2018. As it lookswe will be staying at The Millennium Hotel andbowling at The Transit Lanes. These are thesame hotel and lanes that we have used in thepast.

and regularly report their progressto the Chairman, who could guidethem accordingly. It seems now thatno one wishes to get involved.
We still haven’t given up and arestill looking at a couple of venues,even if the Supreme Commanderyhas to take responsibility to run theevent. There is also serious consid-eration being given to the changingof the manner in which our Conven-tions are conducted. Time will tell.
The Supreme Executive Boarddecided that there will be no meet-ing of the Supreme Advisory Boardin July of this year. I am sure thatmany of you have been planning tobe there for the inaugural meetingof this body, but it was felt best thatit be held off until next year, justprior to the Convention, whereverthat may be. I am as disappointedas you are.
The New York Grand Convention,an action filled three-day affairwent off quite well, and what wasbrought to my attention was theconfusion among our African broth-ers about the roles and powers ofthe military vs. civil portions oftheir commanderies. What consti-tutes the military unit and theirrole in the commandery and region?Much of this is created by the cul-tural difference between our coun-tries.
A lot of eyes were opened duringour question and answer sessions:an important issue to consider inthe near future.
Things are changing, brothers,and it is going to be a wild ride.Hang on and help us grow this greatOrder.

I want to thank all those who mademy job easier over the last six years,especially our Secretaries-the late Col.Vince Binsfeld, and Col. Mike Dudek,who succeeded him in office. Theirattention to paperwork and proce-dure was and is commendable. PastGrand Presidents Gen. DaleGossiaux, Brig. Gens. Eugene Sniezykand Ernie Stehlin, Jr. have alwaysbeen ready to advise and assist me, ashave the Supreme officers, and ofcourse all the Grand and Commanderyofficers and members, and the LadiesAuxiliary.
I must also commend St.Alphonsus Commandery #742,Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, which hassent delegates, officers and membersto every Grand and Supreme Conven-tion since I had the honor of assistingto inaugurate the Commanderynearly six years ago. They are grow-ing in numbers, and now have sevenuniformed members.
The Detroit Regiment hosted thisyear’s National Bowling Tournament,April 21 to 23. It was a privilege towelcome so many teams from all over,and meet with our brothers and sis-ters in good spirits. Supreme offic-ers, bowlers and guests had a greattime at Sterling Lanes, and of courseat the hospitality room at the hotel.
Fr. Sylvain Mbog, St. JosephCommandery #239’s chaplain, cel-ebrated a Mass for us in the hotel Sat-urday evening. We are blessed to havepriests like Fr. Sylvain who can findtime to travel and provide the HolyEucharist to us, wherever we happento be.
St. Joseph Oratory in Detroit,served by my own St. JosephCommandery #239, is since Novem-ber 2016 under the care of the Orderof Christ the King, Sovereign Priestat the invitation of His ExcellencyArchbishop Allen Vigneron. Thenewly installed Rector is CanonMichael Stein, assisted by DeaconJohathan Fehrenbacher (soon to beordained in Florence, Italy). Theyhave welcomed the Knights, and havealready called on us for several turn-outs, notably a procession in honor ofSt. Joseph’s feast day from the churchto nearby Eastern Market. CanonStein is working with us to promotemembership, and the Commanderyhas gained a new member (welcome,BK Jeremy Bartholomew!) thanks toa meet-and-greet session introducedand promoted by the Rector.

Members of the SS Peter and Paul Commandery#747 and Ladies Auxiliary # 631 of the Knights of St.John International, New Aplaku in Accra have pre-sented a poly tank to the Kasoa Government Hospital.The gesture was made in response to a request fromthe hospital. According to Ms Helen Mahama, a princi-pal nursing officer who received the poly tank on be-half of the Management, the hospital has always hadchallenges with ensuring adequate provision of waterfor both staff and patients a situation which alwaysaffected sanitation and posed a serious threat to thehealth of both patients and staff of the hospital. Shethanked the members of the Order for this gesturestating they consider it as very priceless.

The annual Catholic Men’s Con-ference was well attended by ap-proximately 600 Catholic men.Thanks to the efforts of Maj. JosephMiller and Lt. Tim Redinger theKnights of St. John provided anhonor guard for Bishop of Buffalo,Reverend Richard Malone. I alsowish to thank all Brother Knightswho setup and worked the member-ship table. Lt. Buffalo Grand & RegimentalMembership Committee has beenaiding many of our Commanderiesthat require assistance with im-proving membership at their localParishes. Many Commanderies areactively incorporating many of therecommendations from this com-mittee such as attending variousparish functions in Mass; speakingto the congregation at Mass; sup-plying pamphlets and other infor-mative information. All Commanderies within theBuffalo Grand have prepared manyfunctions during this Lenten sea-son. Commandery 391 is no excep-tion. They cordially invited all Buf-falo Grand Commanderies to theirLenten Holy Hour, organizedaround the theme of the Seven LastWords of Christ. It was very success-ful and well attended. I commendS.K. Jeffery Kohler for his outstand-ing effort.
Commandery 382 of Queen ofHeaven mourned the loss of BrotherKnight Sgt. James Bulger (Feb. 7th).Jim was a remarkable individualwho served with dedication formany years the Knights of St. John,his Parish and community. Jim willnever be forgotten as a “Sgt. JamesBulger Memorial Fund” was createdto provide donations to families ofdeceased Commandery Knights to
assist in defraying funeral ex-penses. This is a truly wonderfulway to remember all that Jim gaveto his Commandery and communityfor his many years of service.
The annual St. Patrick’s Day Pa-rade was a spec ia l event forCommandery 382. Prior to the pa-rade, the Knights of St. John pro-vided an Honor Guard for BuffaloBishop Richard Malone at St. JosephCathedral. After leaving Mass andentering the Parade they weregreatly rewarded by receiving theBishop Grosz trophy for “BestCatholic Float”. CongratulationSgt. Maj. By the time, you read this Me-morial Day turn out will be over.As I think back on past MemorialDay turn outs I remember hundredsof men in line formed by three bat-talions that once formed the regi-ment. We would assemble at Ameri-can Optical on Sugar Road andmarch to the monument accompa-nied by the Regimental Band. Regi-mental, battalion and com-manderyflags were unfurled and flowing inthe wind. For those of you who werearound in those days I am sure youcan remember those times.
On September 10th, we will havethe annual Regimental Mass andBreakfast. Mass is at Our Lady ofVictory at 8:00 am. Breakfast willbe at Curly’s Restaurant. Then onOctober 18th the Regimental Mus-ter and Inspection will be held atOur Lady of Pompeii. We will startat 7:00 pm.DON’T FORGET THOSE WHOARE ILL OR RECOVERINGFROM SURGERY:
We have quite a few Knights andspouses that are ill or recoveringfrom surgery. They have beenfaithful members for many yearsand now can use our support. If youknow of a member who is ill orhomebound, give them a call, seewhat you can do to help them. Theywould appreciate your prayers, sothat they al l may experience aspeedy and a full recovery.

with activities in Awka GrandCommandery. The month opened up itsactivities with Lenten Retreats orga-nized by many Local Commanderiesunder the Grand. The Grand President,Brig. Gen. G. N. Muotolu, and the Grand Secretary, Col. P. C. Egwui, beingmembers of St. Patrick’s Commandery# 434, Awka, joined members of theirCommandery to participate in theirLenten Retreat that took place between7th and 9th April, 2017. It has been thetradition of this Commandery to holdher annual retreats in the week – endterminating on Palm Sunday – a prac-tice that has lasted for over 30 years.The Retreat Moderator was Very Rev.Fr Martin Anusi, the Director of FidesCommunications, Awka – a weeklynewspaper owned by the Catholic Dio-cese of Awka. The theme of the Retreatcentered on “St. John the Baptist: Pa-tron of Knights of St John Interna-tional” A lot of spiritual messages flewthrough the Moderator to the atten-tive participants. Every one went homemuch happier than he/she was at thecoming.
On the hills of this retreat, came theChrism Mass/ Cathedraticum whichwas celebrated on Thursday, 13th April.That day, the Bishop of the Dioceseconcelebrated Mass with all the Dioc-esan Priests in which each renewed hisPriestly Ordination vows. In the sameMass, members of the Laity displayedtheir love and solidarity with their Di-ocesan Bishop through presentation ofgifts in cash and kind to him to aid himfor his pastoral work in the Diocese.Awka Grand Commandery turned outCommanderies and LAUX to join ad-herents for the celebration. Again on 22nd April, nineteen (19)Papal Knights awardees in Awka Dio-cese were invested/decorated by theDiocesan Bishop, Most Rev. Dr. P. C.Ezeokafor within a Holy Mass. Fourrecipients comprising a Rev. Sister, aRev. Bro., a Catechist and one otherreceived Papal Medals; thirteen (13)persons including a woman wereknighted in the Order of Knights of St.Sylvester (KSS) while one candidatewas decorated as Knights of St Gregorythe Great (KSG). It is interesting toreport that three Bros viz: VictorUmeh, A. U. Nonyelu and C. I. D.Anierobi – all members of Commandery# 434 Awka – were among the KSS who
received the Papal award. Awka GrandCommandery showed appreciation tothe Bishop by presenting a cow ropeworth N50, 000. 00.
Finally, the next day, (23rd April),Commandery # 892, Neni, the newestand the 12th Local Commandery inAwka Grand, marked her outing Massat the Commandery Headquarters ofSt. John’s Catholic Parish, Neni. Over15 Priests concelebrated the Mass withthe Bishops representative. Towardsthe close of the Mass, an opportunitywas given to the Grand President toinstall the Commandery Spiritual Ad-viser, Very Rev. Fr. Charles Umeoji. TheCharter Worthy President, BroTochukwu Muoma, was also presentedwith the Commandery Charter. Themotivator of the new Commandery, Col.A. O. Enukeme, 2nd Vice Grand Presi-dent of Owerri Grand Commandery andOnowu of Neni and his sister, LadyMary, were recognized as the Patron andPatroness of the new Commandery. Theouting Mass event featured paradesaided by a marching band, photographs,speeches and entertainment

The need for this workshop wasarticulated by a committee of four(two brothers and two sisters)chaired by the Grand Secretary, Col.Charles Nwakanma. It spelled outthe “modus operandi” which amongothers included date and venue, re-source persons and fees payable byattendants.
The workshop was held at thepastoral centre, Catholic Diocese ofAbakaliki, Abakaliki on ThursdayMarch 23, 2017. The first resourceperson, Col Innocent Diyoke spokeon the “STRATEGIC ROLE OFSECRETARIES, DISTRICTCOMMANDERY AND REGIMEN-TAL ADJUTANTS”. He traced whoa Secretary is, his role and finallyrelates them to roles assigned tosecretaries by KSJI constitution.The secretary is most important of-ficial of an organization after thepresident. According to him “therole of the secretary starts beforethe meeting, continues during andbeyond the meeting.
In the second paper presented byNoble s ister Mary Okafor, Shetraced the evolution of accountingsystems in Nigeria to Book keep-
ing, Double-Entry Bookkeeping andLedgers. Finally she dealt withstatement of transactions for pre-sentation to members of a non-trading concern. The receipts andpayments accounts and the incomeand expenditure accounts , sheopined that income and expendi-ture accounts are ideal.
The third paper on the “EFFEC-TIVE ADMINISTRATION OFKNIGHTS OF ST. JOHN INTER-NATIONAL” was delivered by Brig.Gen. Chidi Arinze, the SupremeSubordinate Secretary, Nigeria. Henot only gave a brief history of theOrder but also listed the echelonsof command in the Order.
He opined that “effective admin-istration is synonymous with mas-tery, obedience and respect to theconstitution, bye laws, rules andregulations, code of conduct of ourOrder and use of gavel where appli-cable”. He asked very deep and in-cisive questions to the principal of-ficers of the echelons on how effec-tive their governance is. He endedup by reciting the constitutionalobligations for worthy presidents,recording and corresponding secre-taries and financial secretaries. Avery good paper.
Easter Lenten Retreat
At the end of the workshop on23rd March 2016, the elected offic-
ers of the grand commandery led bythe spiritual director Brig. Gen.Rev. Fr. Clement Obasi paid a cour-tesy visit to the Bishop of AbakalikiCatholic Diocese. His Lordship MostRev. Dr. Michael Nnachi Okoro, asAbakaliki pastoral centre was thevenue of our traditional annuallenten retreat.
The retreat whose theme was“LIVING BY THE WORD OF GOD”was anchored by Rev. Fr. SimonAcha of St. Theresa’s Parish Akaeze,Rev. Fr. Ken Chigbo and Dr. AlfredUnah. Rev. Fr. Simon Acha spoke onthe main theme of the retreat whileR ev. Fr. Ken Chigbo spoke on“SEEK YOU FIRST THE KING-DOM OF GOD AND ITS RIGH-TEOUSNESS” (Matt 6. 33-34) Dr.Alfred Unah spoke on “Healthy Age-ing” Each speaker delivered verywell researched paper on the topicin question. Participants were verywell informed.

Peter Adimorah incompany of the grand secretary ColCharles Nwakanma paid a visit tothe new mother general of Daugh-ters of Divine Love congregation,mother, Anastasia Dike to congratu-late her on assumption of office asnew mother general. Among otherthings discussed was the extensionof their management of our collegefor another three years. The ap-proval was conveyed to us in theirletter dated 4th April 2016. Gloryto God.

It has become a routine in PortHarcourt to offer our Young Broth-ers Workshop in March every year.This time, our Ladies Auxiliarywanted to be part of the programmeorganized by the School of Knights.The last two squads of the LAUXnumbering eighty four (84) sisterssigned in for the programme alongwith ninety brothers from EdmundFitzgibbon Squad and Squad. Allwere initiated in 2016. MonsignorCharles C. Agu, a former SpiritualAdviser to Commandery #460, andParish Priest of Holy Family Catho-lic Church, Woji where the two dayprogramme took place, welcomedthe Grand Officers and the SchoolManagement Board, after the open-ing Mass.
The principal of the School, Ma-jor Ben Iwuoha, presented a leadpaper on the ‘rough road’. Inciden-tally, the First Grand RespectedPresident, also delivered a similarpaper to the Ladies in a separatesetting.
After dinner, Noble Dan Onuohapresented a paper on the history ofPort Harcourt Grand Commandery,after a brief review of CatholicKnighthood from the Medievaltimes through the formation of KSJIin the nineteenth century to theSupreme Subordinate CommanderyNigeria. Col. Steve Ekwelibe, theGrand First Vice President, dealtwith the Ethics of the Order andDegrees of the Order.
The Grand President, Brig. Gen-eral George Ikioumoton, presenteda lead paper the next day on Disci-pline which he said was at the heartof every army. He rev iewedbreaches o f d isc ip l ine in theChurch, at meetings and in civicgatherings and attendant sanctions.
Two papers on health issues werepresented on sickle cell anaemia,prostate cancer IV Aids and otherdiseases ravaging the country.
Captain Silvanus Ukaegbu fromOwerri Grand Commandery was in-vited to assist in drill practices to
which two sessions were allotted.The two day programme was
“hailed” by the young brothers andsisters who described it as very prof-itable for their understanding of theOrder and growth in it.
A few days later, the School ofKnights was restructured to makeits administration 21st centurycompliant. The School GoverningBoard now includes a Rector, themilitary Department and the Officeof the Grand Secretary, while theManagement team has Finance/Ad-ministration, Programs/TechnicalServices and Welfare. There is nowon archivist and/or document con-trol officer – a Librarian.

Commandery reached out to ourBishops during the celebration ofthe Cathedraticum in their variousdioceses . I t i s dur ing theCathedraticum that lay membersand priests celebrate with andhonour their Bishop and show himlove for the great work he is doingfor them. This year, the Bishop ofPort Harcourt Diocese and BomadiVicar iate rece ived f rom PortHarcourt Grand Commandery thesum of N100,000.00 each while theAdministrator of Aba Diocese re-ceived N50,000.00. We have onlyone Commandery in Aba Diocese.
Our widows benefited from ourN500,000.00 Easter Widows’ purse.The widows numbered over onehundred and ten but our Widows
Committee paid attention to thevery needy ones. In a depressedeconomy, worsened by hyperinfla-tion and insecurity, widows withyoung children, are the first casual-ties. Aged widows, who are bedrid-den, who receive no tangible sup-port from their children, suffer a lotin a society where there is a poor ornon-existing social welfare system.
Our Local Commanderies for-warded the names of only elevenwidowers. Some of these widowershave on-going business concernsthat yield some income, but fromthe list we could identify two indi-gent and aged brothers. One ofthem is totally blind.,
After screening, we came up withforty one widows and widowers, ur-gently needing a helping hand.
In the face of the staggeringneeds of these widows and widow-ers, N500,000.00 was like “drop inthe bucket”. But we relied on theLord to multiply it and stretch itfor their use as He had done whenHe used only “five barley loaves andtwo small fishes” to feed five thou-sand persons, and had a leftover.John 6:8-10.
Incidentally, one of the widowsLady Oyor, had received the sum ofone million naira during our MarchJoint Grand Board meeting as shewas a beneficiary of our Death Ben-efit Scheme.

8 ,9 th Mi l lhousen Commanderyhosted the 114th State Convention.Friday evening we had registrationof delegates and great fish dinner.Later that evening some of the bestbowlers in the state competed forprizes and the traveling trophy. Wellmaybe not the best bowlers butthey sure had fun.
Saturday morning at 7:45 therewas formation in front of Immacu-late Conception Church with Massby Fr. John Meyer for the departedmembers of the Knights of St Johnand Auxiliary. Breakfast was fol-lowed with the formal opening ofthe business meeting at 10:00, af-ter roll call. All delegates were as-signed to committees and with elec-tions this year nomination from thechair and the floor were held. Be-fore Lunch all delegates reported totheir appointed committees.
The afternoon business sessionopened at 12:30 with roll call fol-lowed by reports from all commit-tees. Our new candidates for elec-tion were presented to the body andthe e lect ion fo l lowed. Newlyelected off icers are: President:Mark Elpers, 1st Vice President:Jerry Knapp, 2nd Vice President: JoeKraemer, Recording Secretary: DanNobbe, Financial Secretary: SteveLuigs, Treasurer: Larry Neuman,Judge Advocate: Roman Nobbe.Messenger: Gary Naas, Guard:Kenny Will, Sargent at Arms: EricSunderhaus, 5th District trustee:Jay Pfeiffer, 6th District trustee:Randy Kissel. We expressed appre-ciation and thanks to the outgoingofficers for serving the IndianaGrand with pride and leadership,especially Brigadier General LarryNewman who has served for the lastfour years. Job well done! With thenew officers in place we look to afuture that the Indiana Grand willcontinue to be alive and growing.
Under the good of the order ourSpir i tual Adviser, Fr. R ockTravniker was recognized for hisservice to God and the Knights ofSt. John. For many years he hasflown from Florida to be with us tosay Mass and participate at the con-
ventions. Father passed away onDecember 25th. He will be greatlymissed.
The afternoon session closed at3:00.
A banquet was he ld atMillhausen’s Knights of St. John at6:30pm. The new officers were pre-sented by the Pres ident MarkElpers. After dinner the bowlingawards were given with the 5th Dis-trict winning the traveling trophy.The Special Children’s report wasg iven with donat ions o f over$16,000 between the 5th and 6th dis-tricts This is something we are veryproud of.
The Knight of the Year Award waspresented to an outstanding Knightfor deeds done for his Church Com-munity and Commandery. KennethWill was the proud recipient of thisaward. He has been a Knights Mem-ber of St. Wendel Commandery 282for over 50 years.
The evening ended with an auc-tion and the proceeds going to St
Vincent de Paul.Sunday morning we had forma-
tion at Immaculate ConceptionChurch for all the delegates anduniform members with Mass by Fr.Bi l l Turner. After breakfastMillhausen was thanked for theirhospitality and the well organizedConvention.
Let us keep our deceased and sickKnights in our prayers.

Our greatest problem is thatwe have always booked a Headquar-ters Hotel and counted on roomnights to pay for the meeting roomsneeded. As we all know, the head-quarters hotel rate is higher thanother hotels in the area. We nolonger have the room nights to coverthe cost of the meeting rooms, thuswe must face that reality and movein a different direction. Presentlywe are looking at booking the meet-ing rooms in a hotel or moving to aconvention center. This will cost inthe area of $15,000 to $20,000 dol-lars, which would have to be splitwith the Supreme Ladies Auxiliary.Wherever we choose to locate musthave hotel’s and restaurant’s avail-able for those participating. Thereis a possibility that we may hold theconvention in Philadelphia with thestringent work of the members, andMaj. Gen. Martin Bella, but until Ireceive word from Maj. Gen. Bella,I cannot confirm this to the mem-bership. Please remember that thestructure of the convention and thecost of things such as registration,will increase. Still we will do thebest we can to defray the cost to themembership.
