O R D E R

Heard the learned counsel for the parties.

In view of the submissions made by the learned

counsel appearing for the petitioners and the learned

Attorney General appearing for the respondents and upon

perusal of the affidavits filed by Mr. Avinash Dikshit,

the Commissioner of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan.

The writ petition is disposed of with the

following directions :

1. So far as this academic session of 2014-15 is

concerned, there will not be any examination/assessment

for Sanskrit language in standards 6, 7 & 8.

2. The students of standards 6, 7 & 8 who are

already learning German language as third language, will

take the examination/assessment for this academic session

as an optional language.

3. From the next academic session of 2015-16

onwards, the students of standards 6, 7 & 8 will take

examination in Sanskrit or any other modern Indian

language as third language.

4. However, those students who want to continue to

learn German language, are free to do so as an optional

subject.

5. All facilities required for teaching optional

subjects will be made available in all the Kendriya

Vidyalaya Schools.
