SUPPORTING THE POPULAR FIGHT, SAVE KUKUTZA! Kukutza III Gaztetxea (youngs home in basque), the only cultural and social chance in Bilbaos Rekalde district (Basque Country), is in danger of eviction. It is an old factory which was occupied by the young people from the district. The factorys owner was a drugs trafficker, and when he was arrested and imprisoned, the building was sold to Cabisa, S.A., which has abandoned the factory during more than ten years until it was occupied by the neighbours. From a dark abandoned factory, full of syringes and rats, Rekaldes neighbours became the old building in a dreams facto ry. During 13 years, after be working very hard, it i s the only cultural and social chance in the area to supply the peoples needs, because Bilbaos council havent been able to do that (because they dont want to do, of course). In that social centre (as we can see in the lipdub they have done to support the project in http://www.you tube.com/watch?v =e2VieT5ksyo ) we can find a tavern, a public library with a lot of books about a lot of things, a vegetarian dining room, a barter shop (where you can get what you want only giving a thing you dont use), the only circ school in all Bizkaia (), a theatre room (Ex#Presa), a place to learn martial arts, one of the best climbing wall around Europe, a place to learn a lot of dances from around the world (http://dantzaguneakukutzan.blogspot.com/ ) and a home in the top of the building where 10 young boys and girls are living. Apart from that, a lot of cultural associations can use the building freely to do the activities which they want, and there are a lot of courses about self- financing, recycling, dancing... Its a self-financed place, where everybody can take part and have a good time doing activities from the neighbourhood to the neighbourhood. Its the only place where the alternative culture is done in Rekalde, doing concerts of little musical groups which cant play them songs anywhere freely. Nowadays, Cabisa (a mafias enterprise) wants to evict the building and destroy that. Against that, Kukutza has received a lot of support around the world by associations, neighbours collectives, intellectuals, artists, politics, anonymous people... The last 16 th July we could see that support in the international demonstration which was done in Bilbao under the slogan Ez dira pasako! (They wont pass!) from the city hall to Rekalde. There were more than 8000 people, and in a festive demonstration they asked to the council for not to evict the building. Even so, despite the achieved support, the council doesnt want to take a solution in order not to destroy that dreams factory. Because of that, there is an international agitation to get more support, and they have get more than 6000 signatures in defence of that auto financed cultural centre. SUPPORTING THE POPULAR FIGHT, SAVE KUKUTZA!

Kukutza III Gaztetxea (youngs home in basque),

the only cultural and social chance in Bilbaos

Rekalde district (Basque Country), is in danger of

eviction. It is an old factory which was occupied by

the young people from the district. The factorysowner was a drugs trafficker, and when he was

arrested and imprisoned, the building was sold to

Cabisa, S.A., which has abandoned the factory

during more than ten years until it was occupied by

the neighbours.

From a dark abandoned factory, full of syringes and rats, Rekaldes neighbours became the old

building in a dreams factory. During 13 years, after be working very hard, it is the only cultural

and social chance in the area to supply the peoples

needs, because Bilbaos council havent been able

to do that (because they dont want to do, of

course). In that social centre (as we can see in thelipdub they have done to support the project in

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2VieT5ksyo)

we can find a tavern, a public library with a lot of

books about a lot of things, a vegetarian dining

room, a barter shop (where you can get what you want only giving a thing you dont use), the

only circ school in all Bizkaia (), a theatre room (Ex#Presa), a place to learn martial arts, one of

the best climbing wall around Europe, a place to learn a lot of dances from around the world

(http://dantzaguneakukutzan.blogspot.com/) and a home in the top of the building where 10

young boys and girls are living. Apart from that, a lot of cultural associations can use the

building freely to do the activities which they want, and there are a lot of courses about self-

financing, recycling, dancing... Its a self-financed place, where everybody can take part and

have a good time doing activities from the neighbourhood to the neighbourhood. Its the only

place where the alternative culture is done in Rekalde, doing concerts of little musical groups

which cant play them songs anywhere freely.

Nowadays, Cabisa (a mafias enterprise) wants to evict the building and

destroy that. Against that, Kukutza has received a lot of support around

the world by associations, neighbours collectives, intellectuals, artists,

politics, anonymous people... The last 16th

July we could see that

support in the international demonstration which was done in Bilbao

under the slogan Ez dira pasako! (They wont pass!) from the city hall

to Rekalde. There were more than 8000 people, and in a festive

demonstration they asked to the council for not to evict the building.

Even so, despite the achieved support, the council doesnt want to take

a solution in order not to destroy that dreams factory. Because of that,

there is an international agitation to get more support, and

they have get more than 6000 signatures in defence of that

auto financed cultural centre. If you want to sign pro

Without Kukutza, Rekalde, Bilbao and the Basque Country wouldnt be

the same thing. All together we need to defend the popular places like

Kukutza, in order to build a better world and a better society.

THEY WONT PASS!
