Mass Balance

• We will be adding a mass balance summary• This is relatively straightforward for UAs

– it can be incorporated into the validation spreadsheet summary

• There is more data processing required for WDAs as the balance requires WCA data. – This means it cannot simply be added to the

validation spreadsheet summary

• What level of breakdown of the WCA data is needed by the WDA?

Mass Balance (cont.)

• Screen shots of Excel options– Why choose: because more in the report,

longer report takes to run– Full WCA materials breakdown– Materials totals by WCA– No WCA breakdown, just WCAs’ total

• Remember full breakdown for a WCA is available on each WCA’s report

Mass Balance figures for the WDA

• But supported by what level of WCA material breakdown ?

Helpdesk upgrade

• Current helpdesk logs calls in a database• Investigating upgrade to a web-based system

– Allow LAs to submit web calls as well as by telephone and e-mail

– Allow remote access into the database– Make standard answers and FAQs available to all

Queued Roll-up

• End of quarter is a busy time for rolling up• Currently a roll-up process can take a minute

– but longer if many LAs are rolling up at the same time

• The queue will allow WDF to process them one at a time– and so do each more quickly

• When you click to roll up you receive message that your return is in the queue

• When roll-up is complete you receive an email• This process will still be ‘instant’ especially at non-

peak times

Development Opportunities

• 9 development opportunities that have been identified by the user group and operations group

• They are explained in the accompanying hand-out

• We would then like your input on prioritisation

Opportunities

• User feedback on data submission

• Website upgrade• User log-on• Menu review• Upgrade online help• Auto-upload of data

• LA Reports– PDFs, Excel, CSV– Regional grouping– Improved

Benchmarking around family groups

• External body reports

• Quarterly question management by LAs
