CASE STUDIES
17
Solution• Hershey’s implemented the Acsis traceability solution to automate the
tracking of all products, from manufacturing through packaging in 19
plants.
• The solution combines information from over 150 data collection points, to
ensure full product traceability throughout the process.
• Importantly, this solution provides the foundation to support regulatory
reporting for FSMA.
Benefits• Improved site productivity by eliminating manual and labor-intensive
processes for tracking product.
• Elimination of process gaps in product traceability, significantly improving
FSMA compliance.
• Ability to measure and dramatically reduce the amount of rework and scrap
due to previously manual processes.
• Improved product visibility and increased site efficiency.
ROI• 100% visibility into the status and location of all products, for compliance
with FSMA.
• 50% reduction in scrap due to expired materials.
• 30% improvement in site productivity.
CUSTOMER CASE EXAMPLE: HERSHEY’S
“At Hershey goodness has always been about more than delicious products. For 120 years, Hershey has been committed to good
business by operating fairly, ethically and sustainably to make a positive impact on society.”
The Challenge for Hershey’s• Hershey’s required an application to track various raw materials from
in-bound receipt to manufacturing to production, and through final
packaging.
• Additionally, Hershey needed to comply with the Food Safety
Modernization Act (FSMA).
• In the event of a recall, Hershey is mandated to quickly identify the
batch genealogy of a finished product, a significant government
requirement, with serious ramifications in the event of non-
compliance.

“With expertise spanning two centuries, diverse industries and more than 90 countries, our company is uniquely positioned to help solve
some of the world’s biggest challenges.”
CUSTOMER CASE EXAMPLE: DUPONT
The Challenge for DuPont• DuPont, like many other companies today, has a diverse group of
subcontractors, suppliers, co-manufacturers and third party distributors.
• They required an application that could connect all of these unique entities.
• The goal was to create a virtual manufacturing and distribution
environment, providing a complete view of their extended supply chain, and
providing “one window pane” into their enterprise.
• Adding to this challenge were the various levels of technology in use by
DuPont’s partner companies. The technological capabilities of these
partners varied from fully-integrated EDI-based solutions to partners
utilizing manual solutions.
• This lack of technical consistency across the partner network did not allow
DuPont access to reliable and consistent information required to achieve
the supply chain visibility needed to support their customer base.
Solution• DuPont implemented the Acsis traceability solution to provide a common
platform and methodology to communicate across the global DuPont partner
network, regardless of the partner’s technical capabilities or IT resources.
• This solution allowed DuPont to provide a portal for their partner network
that was fully integrated into their SAP system.
Benefits• Cost reductions through the elimination of EDI, email, phone calls,
spreadsheets and other manual processes to connect to ERP.
• Significant improvement in visibility of global customer order status.
• Improved customer satisfaction due to better shipment accuracy and
timely deliveries.
• Increase in the ability to triage and quickly correct any product delivery
concerns.
ROI• Significant increase in productivity and accuracy by eliminating the need
for manual transaction entry.
• 90% decrease in the time needed to onboard new partners.

Solution• Glatfelter implemented the Acsis traceability solution to provide a common
platform to communicate with their customers.
• This solution allowed for real-time data collection capability in order to track
inventory, manage consumption, and integrate product movement
automatically and seamlessly into their SAP system.
Benefits• Increased visibility into inventory status at customer locations, improved billing
procedures and improved customer retention.
• Increased inventory accuracy through the elimination of manual data collection
processes.
• Most importantly, improved customer perception; Glatfelter is now viewed as a
more technology focused and strategic business partner.
ROI• Reduction in stock outages and increase in sales due to automated billing and
product replenishment.
• 50% savings in operating expenses due to reduction in rush orders.
• Increase in Glatfelter Sales productivity by utilizing the new functionality as a
customer management tool.
CUSTOMER CASE EXAMPLE: GLATFELTER
“Glatfelter is uniquely focused on growth through globalization, specialization, innovation and continuous improvement—aimed at
delivering distinctive value to all stakeholders.”
The Challenge for Glatfelter• Glatfelter needed to shift their specialty paper business to a consignment
inventory model.
• Rolls of paper are shipped to customer sites but remain on Glatfelter's
balance sheet until consumed.
• Product tracking at the customer location was done manually, and often,
inventory counts were inconsistent with Glatfelter’s records.
• In addition, their competitors had solutions that allowed them to manage
consignment inventory remotely, providing them a significant competitive
advantage.
