Supplemental Information For Using The BitmapCG Times™ Font

This information deals with printing when using the bitmap CG Times font. All otherprinter operations are identical to those presented in the User’s Guide.

Note: The font is supplied on an E/PROM. Follow the installation instructions supplied with

the E/PROM kit.

CG Times Point Sizes and Type Style

The CG Times font comes in nine different point sizes and one type style. Point sizesare 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 18, 24, 30 and 36. The type style is bold. A sample of each ofthese point sizes is shown on Page 4.

The CG Times font usse the Code Page 850 character set. The character values start at20 HEX. The Code Page 850 character se,t showing the characters with theirrespective HEX and Decimal values, can be found starting on Page 5.

Printing in CG Times

Use ^A1 to print in 6 point size, ^A2 to print in 8 point size, ^A3 to print in 10 pointsize, ^A4 to print in 12 point size, ^A5 to print in 14 point size, ^A6 to print in 18point size, ^A7 to print in 24 point size, ^A8 to print in 30 point size and ^A9 to printin 36 point size.

The format for the instruction is

a = Font orientation;Default value: N= normal or last ^FW value.Other values:

R = Rotated, 90 degrees clockwiseI = Inverted, 180 degreesB = Read from Bottom up, 270 degrees

b = Character height in dots;Default value: Standard matrix height for

specified bit-mapped fontOther values: Multiples of height from 2 to 10

times the standard height in increments of 1.

c = Character width in dots;Default value: Standard matrix height for

specified bit-mapped fontOther values: Multiples of width from 2 to 10

times the standard width in increments of 1.

Checking for CG Times Font

To check that the CG Times font has been properly installed, send the following ZPLformat to the printer.

^XA^WDE:^XZ

The following directory will be printed out.

Reading the Directory

The names of the fonts printed in the directory are read as follows.

The numbers on the left (1 thru 9) are used in the ^Axinstruction to access the specific point size.

The “E:” signifies that that this is the E/PROM.

The two characters (TI) = Name of font (CG Times)

The numbers following TI = Size of font in points

Example TI18.FNT is the CG Times font in 18 point size.

Sample ZPL Formats

The following are two sample ZPL formats. Once the CG Times font has been in-stalled in your printer, send one or both of these formats and check the results.

The word Hello will be printed in 40 point type.

^XA^A7N,3,3^FDZEBRA^FS^XZ

The word ZEBRA will be printed in 72 point type.
