Environmental Policy

Since 1994, Dometic Marine has provided air conditioning and refrigeration systems with green refrigerants. We lead the industry in the development of globally compliant marine air conditioning systems.

Dometic Marine is committed to minimizing the environmental impact of our products through regular assessment of energy and material demands, emissions, waste generation, and recyclable resources.

For many years we have proudly displayed our “Environmentally Responsible” logo, which indicates our commitment to protecting the environment. Environmentally

Responsible

A reliable and ample air conditioning system is essential in any superyacht design. No matter how elegant the surroundings, they won’t feel luxurious if the temperature of the living area is less than comfortable. Not only will the right air conditioning system provide a pleasant voyage for passengers and crew, but it will also maintain the required temperature range for the operation of critical electronic equipment.

It is wise, therefore, to engineer the air conditioning system for the unique characteristics of each yacht, and address climate control with as much attention and expertise as you give to the design of the vessel itself.

Assessing real-world air conditioning requirements takes experience and specialized knowledge, so look to Dometic Marine for the resources and expertise you need. Our senior engineers can design your yacht’s air conditioning system or review your design and specifications to make sure everything is correct.

The Three Biggest Challenges When Choosing the Right Manufacturer

With 50 years of experience, Dometic has provided the most proven, innovatively engineered marine air conditioning systems in the world.

We understand the three biggest challenges faced by naval architects, ship builders, and owners when choosing the right company for their air conditioning equipment: Engineering support, broad selection, and global service.

Challenge #1: Engineering Support

Trust Dometic’s expert engineering team to review your drawings and specifications to ensure all measurements and load calculations are correct. Or, we can layout your entire system, size all the appropriate capacities, and design the most suitable system for your vessel. Dometic can also supervise the installation of your air conditioning system and provide on-site training and complete documentation to your crew.

Challenge #2: Broadest Selection

Dometic provides the world’s broadest range of chilled water systems, including air handlers and controls. Our chillers provide up to 2.88 million BTUs of cooling or heating and come in a variety of configurations, with custom designs available. Dometic air handlers feature WhisperCool technology and are available in unique vertical and horizontal configurations that maximize space utilization. Network-capable controls can be incorporated into most ship-automation solutions.

Challenge #3: Global Service

Dometic has the world’s largest network of trained and certified sales and service teams to support you no matter where you build or navigate. All Dometic systems are in accordance with NMMA and ASHRAE standards, and our company is ISO 9001:2008 certified.

Superyacht Chilled Water System

A seawater-cooled chiller, installed in the engine room, cools or heats the ship's interior via a loop of chilled or heated fresh water. Along the fresh-water loop are the air handlers, which blow cold or hot air, and also dehumidify the environment.

Air handlers are designed to be installed in tight spaces such as walls, storage areas, and overhead spaces, then ducted to the various cabins, corridors, and living areas. Fresh Air Makeup Units can be installed and ducted to the return stream of air handlers to help improve air quality throughout the vessel's interior.

Cabin temperature, fan speed, and humidity levels are controlled and monitored by sophisticated digital cabin controls. Chiller operation, water temperatures, faults, and other information are monitored by the Tempered Water Logic Control (TWLC).

For remote chiller control and monitoring, the Chiller Gateway Network Interface, which is installed on the chiller or elsewhere in the vessel, can be accessed on the internet via Modbus/TCP Ethernet protocol.

Dometic Marine also offers the air-cooled Radome Environmental Control Unit (ECU) for the cooling of navigation and electronics

equipment, and the electric heat pilot-house defroster. Both work independently of the chiller system.

In-Duct Breathe Easy™ Air Purifier

Stops Odors & Reduces Unhealthy Contaminants

The in-duct Breathe Easy™ Air Purifier uses innovative Photocatalytic Nano-Mesh technology with ultraviolet (UV) light to improve air quality. The intense UV light produces no harmful ozone.

Customer Testimonial

"After cleaning up a diesel fuel leak from the generator, we still had a persistent petroleum odor. I installed the portable Breathe Easy Air Purifier in the galley. A week later all odors were completely eliminated."

— John H. Thommen, Guilford, CT

Non-ozone-producing UV light reduces biological contaminants like mold spores, bacteria, and viruses that pass through the air purifier system.

UV light energy activates the titanium-dioxide catalyst on the surface of the nano-mesh structure. The molecules of pollutants and odors that come in contact with the catalytic nano-mesh

structure are reconfigured into non-toxic elements.

Significantly cleaner, healthier air exits the system.

Two Types of SeaLand® Flushing Technologies

VacuFlush® System

VacuFlush® toilet systems are one of the most popular systems preferred by boat manufacturers and owners around the world.

VacuFlush technology uses stored vacuum energy to clear the bowl instantly and propel waste to the holding tank. This results in no odors, no clogs, and exceptionally low power draw and water usage.

VacuFlush systems feature a selection of components and options that offer home-like comfort, style, and performance. Multiple-head VacuFlush systems can be specially engineered to accommodate individual yacht requirements, including centralized sanitation system monitoring and control.

MasterFlush® System

Dometic’s industry-leading MasterFlush® system pulverizes waste with less power than competing toilet systems.

The stainless-steel 18-blade macerator turbine grinds waste into a fine effluent with no clogging. The macerator pump propels effluent to the holding tank, which can be installed up to 98 ft. (30 m.) away.

Superior technology means 64% less power consumption and 33% lower amps per flush than competing models. In addition, the home-style water trap in many MasterFlush models keeps drainline odors away from living spaces.
