One vowel + one consonant:double final consonant

BIG (GRANDE) THE BIG-GEST

(el más grande)

Two-syllable adjectives ending in consonant+y= ier

HEALTHY (SANO)

THE HEALTH-IEST (El más sano )

Two-syllable adjectives not ending in “-y”

BORING(ABURRIDO)

THE MOST BORING (El más aburrido)

Two or more syllables: more+ adjective

EXPENSIVE

(CARO)THE MOST expens.

After superlatives we use in+names of places or singular words for groups of people.

Eg “It's the noisiest city in the world”

“It's the dirtiest city in Europe”

We often use “the+superlative adj with the present perfect+ever.

Eg “It's the best film I've ever seen this year” “It's the most beautiful city I've ever been to”
