Blended Learning
Students will receive instruction 5 days of the week. Students will come to school for in-personinstruction a minimum of two days of the week and have follow-up online materials the remainder of the week.
Virtual Learning
Students will receive instruction 5 days of the week through distance learning experiences with a SCS teacher. Families pursuing virtual learning will receive a virtual learning contactoutlining expectations (semester commitment).
Meeting the needs of all families and honoring their choices for how they want instruction delivered.

June 23 Began plan of calling anyone who has not responded on the survey and updating an individual student data sheet to plan for instruction, transportation, scheduling, etc.
June 25 Staunton communicates with families regarding school re-opening plan
June 30 Childcare survey for staff, followed by meetings with Parks and Rec
July 13 Sports and band practices resume under new health guidelines

● Health Measures: Implementing ALL aspects of safety/health; Refer to the Health Planning Checklist
● Student Schedules: Creating a data matrix that includes EVERY student for the upcoming school year -- Virtual/ blended learning, A/B schedules, Attending more than 2 days; Rethinking recess and specials; Transportation (and alternate pick-up locations), Technology; Schools communicating with each other to coordinate sibling schedules; Calling any parent who has not responded to the survey
● Transportation: Notifying intent to vary if want one student per seat with students and drivers wearing masks; Coordinating 5 different routes and multiple bus runs; Adjusting school day schedules to allow flexibility for transportation; Considering adjusting start/end times to help families with childcare
Planning Steps
● Cafeteria: Meal service for ALL students - as we anticipate being able to offer universal free breakfast/lunch through Community Eligibility Provision; Determining revised process for meal delivery within schools to meet parameters; Providing meals for children from families who opt for virtual, balanced with restrictions for transportation.
● Technology: Reviewing survey results; Determining needs and allocating resources (computers and hotspots) to both families and staff
● Budget: Re-examining and working within a limited budget to meet safety and instructional needs; Writing new application for CARES Grant; Consulting with private schools and managing accounts

● High School Construction Project: Working to meet deadlines so we can open on time for all students and staff (ahead of schedule); Working under tight timelines for furniture installation; Ensuring all classroom technology is up and working
● Calendar: Re-organizing all aspects of calendar (school calendar, assessment calendar, and pacing of courses)
● Reporting: Re-configuring aspects of monitoring attendance, etc. in current data system
Planning Steps
● Childcare: Collaborating with Parks and Rec to review options for childcare for staff to reduce barriers and provide continuity of instructional services; Determining how we can help keep the HEART program keep functioning as well as help facilitate childcare options for other SCS families
● Trainings for ALL staff: Current SCS University and upcoming trainings for Instructional Assistants; Best practice guidance for instructional staff - office hours, communication; Cleaning expectations/ practices for staff; Specific guidance for nurses, bus drivers, custodians/maintenance, cafeteria, and office staff - New normal will require some drill and practice and adjustments to typical instruction.
● Families: Communications (virtual contract and A/B notification coming soon); Planning for small group open houses and orientations at schools; Designing a Parent SCS University
