To create a special superhero mask. To have a visit from some real life heroes. Texts we will be reading: Developing oracy by: We will be reciting poems and practising songs to prepare for the English Speaking Board. Our P4C focus will be: We will be focussing on the question, can anyone be a hero?Enquiry question: Do all superheroes wear a cape? Key skills we will be aspiring to achieve: Maths We will be developing our number knowledge, focusing on place value and reading and writing numbers to 100. We will be practising counting, matching and ordering numbers. We will be looking at attrition, subtraction and introducing our 2, 5 and 10 times tables. English Read a variety of childrens stories such as Traction Manby Mini Grey and Cops and Robbersby Allan Ahlberg. We will learn to include features of narrative texts in our own writing as we retell these stories. We will learn to write in sentences remembering full stops and capital letters. We will learn to use our phonics to spell words correctly. We will develop our cursive handwriting so that we can write with fluency. Geography We will look at the locations of the Crimean War and find out key places linked with Florence Nightingale and Edith Cavell. Computing We will be using the computer to complete phonics games and develop our mouse using skills. History We will learn about the life and times of Florence Nightingale and Edith Cavell. Art/DT Practise drawing techniques whilst sketching a por- trait of Florence Nightingale. We will create and de- sign our own shoebox hospital and a self portrait t- shirt in the style of Roy Lichtenstein, focussing on the use of Primary Colours. PE Within P.E we will work on a range of fundamental skills. We will be focusing on athletics and we will also be having P.E sessions with a coach from Time4Sport. Science We will investigate different seasons and changes over time. We will learn to name and identify common trees and plants . We will learn to name and identify the basic parts of a plant. We will learn to name parts of the body for humans and learn what we need to do to stay healthy. We will look at materials and their uses. Immersive Experience: Dress up as Real-Life Superheroesday. Project Outcome: Showcase Assembly— creating POP art self- portrait t-shirts to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital. Project Audience: Parents and relatives. Superheroes To use peer crique to create a self-portrait to be transferred onto a t-shirt. To create a shoe box hospital ward. To have a real life hero day.
