THE JOURNEYMEN WRESTLING CLASSIC Event Philosophy: FINALLY The event that everyone wants to see is back! The best of the best from neighboring states squaring off in a preseason round-robin format. Last year, our second year, was perhaps our best event ever. This year, 175 athletes will battle it out in their respective weight class. Five or six in tier one and four or five in tier two. Tier 1 – Best of the Best This is a true battleground for wrestlers on the east coast. Five- or six-man round-robin brackets with all decorated and accomplished opponents (three to four matches for each wrestler) State place finishers, followed by state qualifiers get preference. Tier 2 – Best of the Rest: the next four or five best-accomplished wrestlers. Again, four- or five-man round-robin brackets with decorated opponents. FLO MAJOR - This event is one of the select few FLO Majors in the country and it’s the very first FLO Major of the season. However, NOT all winners will be crowned FLO Major winners. Since there are two tiers in the event, only the weight classes deemed the 15 most competitive will get the nod, regardless of the tier. The 15 weights declared Flo Majors will be determined after weigh ins. How do I participate? If you’d like to participate in this event – please reach out to Journeymen Wrestling to research availability by emailing [email protected]. This event is a small, ultra-competitive event and it will fill up quickly. Rules: • No postgraduates • NFHS Rules • Folkstyle • Athletes cannot wear their high school singlets at the competition • Bout Length: 2:00, 1:30, 1:30 periods • College out of bounds in effect Tentative Weights: 106, 113, 120, 125, 130, 135, 140, 145, 152, 160, 170, 182, 195, 225 and 285. If certain weights do not get completely filled, we will match athletes up that are closest in weight (within reason). Once you’ve been accepted at a particular weight, you are expected to compete at that weight since these are all pre-determined brackets. Therefore, select the appropriate weight from the start! Registration & Entry Fee: • All entry forms must be received in advance of September 24, 2013 • Once you’ve received pre-approval from Journeymen Wrestling to wrestle in the event, please register online via www.journeymenwrestling.com. Well, the Californians are on the prowl for gold of their own. And they’re coming east to get it. Gold medals that is! Not only will the brackets be loaded with east coast studs, but be prepared for the west coast talent to stake their claim in this Flo Major event.
