SPECIAL CONGREGATIONAL MEETING DEC 1/19
A special Congregational Meeting will be held in the Sanctuary following the
morning service on 1 December 2019 at 1130hrs in order to consider approval of
the draft 2020 Financial Plan. All members of the Congregation are encouraged to
attend this meeting. It is expected NOT to be a lengthy meeting. Copies of
ERMUC’s draft financial plan will be available soon. Questions can be directed to
Christopher Sproule, Chair of the Congregation, at 613 539 0306 or
Community of Faith Profile Approved At a meeting of the Regional Council this past week, our Community of Faith Profile was approved. This is great news for us because it means that we can now upload our Community of Faith Profile to the United Church of Canada (UCC) hub, where it will be available to prospective candidates thinking about a change. It also means that the Search and Selection Team, approved at last Sunday’s congregational meeting, can now begin their work on searching and selecting a minister who lead our church into a new era in August of 2020.
Help Needed
The library has been looked after by Joan Martin for the last 30 years under
the umbrella of the UCW. We are now forming a new Ministry Team to look
after the library under the Faith and Formation Team. Do you have a love of
books and an interest in helping out with this team? The team currently has 2
volunteers but would love some help from others. If interested please speak
with Lorna Thorne or send her an email to [email protected] Thank you!

San Salvador Scholarship Fund Each November for the last several years we as a congregation give some thought and prayer to our partner church in San Salvador, Iglesias Emmanuel Bautiste, and the school that the church operates, Collegio Emmanuel Bautiste. Because the public school system in the city of San Salvador is of poor quality, the school was created to offer parents and children some hope for a future where they might escape the twin trap of poverty and violence. The school is a private, faith-based school with tuition. The scholarship fund exists to assist parents who want their children to have the opportunity to attend the school but can not afford to send them. Tuition fees are US$200 for a primary student and US$300 for high school students. Many in our congregation have visited the church and school in San Salvador and can speak fondly about the situation there, from first-hand experience. Last year we as a church sent the fund US$6000 to help with tuition fees, and from the fees shown above, you see for yourself how far this donation would have gone last year. Please consider making a donation this November so that this school is able to continue doing its great work. Donations can be included in a clearly-marked offering envelope or cheques can be given to Gordon Sinclair at a Sunday service.
