A WORD FROM CHRIS YOUTH CLASSES
This Sunday is the 5th Sunday of the
month, which means we will have a
potluck and evening services will be
communal singing the Mary Ellen and
Harvester church of Christ in Pampa.
During the pot luck our Nicaragua
group will be presenting. I hope to see
you there and am excited for you to
hear about the experiences of the
group firsthand. I really am hopeful
that this trip is the beginning of a long
relationship with this mission effort,
and see potential in the church being
involved on a wider scale in the future.
When I went to the National
Conference on Youth Ministry at the
beginning of the year I bought
recordings of all of the sessions. I still
have not gone through them myself,
but I am able to share them with you if
you are interested. I may put a more
detailed list of the sessions in a future
newsletter, but there are two different
sessions of Bob Goff and a beginner's
session to the Enneagram. If you would
be interested in hearing any of these,
email me at
[email protected] and I'll
send you the link. Have a great week!
Sunday Morning
Most of the youth group will
at our retreat so our Junior
High and High School will
meet together in the FAC
with Jeremy Reid teaching
Hebrews 9. There is also an
adult class that meets here
and you are more than
welcome to join them
throughout this study.
Wednesday Night Huddles
will continue our study of
James. We will be finishing
the first chapter studying
verses 19-27. In this section,
James is concerned with
controlling your tongue,
anger, and what true
devotion to Christ looks like.
MONDAY NIGHT DEVO
Susan Allen will be hosting
Monday Night Devo at 8:00
pm this week (6 Dellwood
Lane). If you need a ride,
let me know and I can take
you to devo and drop you
off.

Summer Schedule May 19th - Parent/Student MeetingWe wil l be having a parent meeting after morning services to lay thefoundation for our summer. This meeting wil l be catered, and wil l be used tocollect any paperwork that may be needed and to give an update on any helpthat is needed.
The summer is a busy time for everyone. Here are the big events that we have planned for this summer, along with the costs for those trips. Please put these on your calendars. If the cost will keep your child from being with us, please let me know..
May 27th - Summer Kickoff CookoutWe wil l be having our cookout to kickoff the summer as usual but there wil l be some changes. The goal of this is to integrate those that just f inished 6th grade into the youth group as well as the kids some time to get to know our interns. Parents are welcome to come to this event as well to participate in our activit ies and wil l be needed to help out as wellMay 30th, 31st- North Amarillo VBSOur youth group wil l be helping out the Bible Chair and the Colonies church of Christ conduct a VBS for the North Amaril lo church of Christ. Students wil l be needed to help lead lessons, games, and sing songs with their kids.June 1st-8th - Opportunity Camp - $150Opportunity Camp may be one of the longest lasting events our congregation has been involved with. We team up with the Conroe church of Christ and conduct a VBS style camp for kids from inner-city Houston that attend Impact church of Christ. The init ial deposit of $75 will be due April 14th and the f inal deposit of $75 due May 26th. I am in need of two maintenance guys to help throughout the camp.June 17th - JH Mystery Trip - $40Last year we went on a mystery tr ip after our camping tr ip got rained out. We ended up going to Santa Fe to Meow Wolf. I f you've never been there I would highly recommend it . We had a great t ime. We are doing that again this year and we wil l be going to . . . well i t wouldn't be a mystery tr ip i f I told you. The $40 will be due June 9th . I would love to have at least three other adults accompany me on the trip.June 30th - July 3rd - JH Missions In Amarillo - $20Missions in Amaril lo (MIA) may be one of my favorite things that we do over the summer. One change we are making is allowing those that are entering 6th grade to join us on this trip , making it available for incoming 6th graders to freshman. We wil l end up performing a variety of service projects in Amaril lo, from feeding the homeless to playing games with patients in the memory unit at the Craig. I will be in need of host homes to house the kids over this week.July 8th-11th - VBSOur VBS wil l be July 8th-11th. Members of al l ages make this a memorable VBS in our community. Please contact Renee Boehning or myself if you are available to help out this week.

Summer Schedule These events are either important activities in the summer not directly involved with the youth group or are not set in stone but want you to be aware of.
June 22nd-26th - Red River Family EncampmentI have not been to RRFE since I was in college, but am hoping to change that this year. A large portion of our congregation already go to this conference, and it is a great place to catch up with fr iends from other congregations and to be rejuvenated from a week devoted to worship and learning from others in our brotherhood.
June 23rd-29th, July 14th-20th - Camp Blue HavenTraditionally the majority of our students have gone to 5th session (July dates) of Camp Blue Haven, but we have had a growing number attend 3rd session (June dates). Enough so that Bryan and Susan Hackett will be taking a van with them to 3rd session . Look for sign ups or ask us i f you need a r ide. We wil l be taking three vans to 5th session. I am will be needing two other van drivers, preferably with someone to ride with them.
July 26th - Lock-In - $20Last year we went to the Colonies for a Lock-In and spent some of the t ime at Mr. Gatti 's. I personally dread lock-ins but I actually enjoyed this. The price and date is not locked in for this and these are just estimates.
Leadership RetreatOne thing I regret from last summer was not having an opportunity to meet with the leaders of the group to see what their expectations for the year were and what they wanted to focus on. Currently my vision for this would be an opportunity for the graduating class to "pass the torch" onto next year's juniors and seniors. I also envision us using this t ime to discuss a theme for the fol lowing year, a focus for Monday Night devos, and areas/projects that we can work on throughout the year. This wil l probably occur the last week of July or beginning of August and wil l try to be scheduled so that the most possible students can attend.
