Genesis 12:1-3 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

1 Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father's house to the land

that I will show you. 2 And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so

that you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in

you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

1 May God be gracious to us and bless us

and make his face to shine upon us, Selah 2 that your way may be known on earth,

your saving power among all nations. 3 Let the peoples praise you, O God;

let all the peoples praise you!

4 Let the nations be glad and sing for joy,

for you judge the peoples with equity

and guide the nations upon earth. Selah

Verse 1:

How deep the Father's love for us

How vast beyond all measure

That He should give His only Son

To make a wretch His treasure

How great the pain of searing loss

The Father turns His face away

As wounds which mar the Chosen One

Bring many sons to glory

Verse 2:

Behold the Man upon a cross

My sin upon His shoulders

Ashamed I hear my mocking voice

Call out among the scoffers

It was my sin that held Him there

Until it was accomplished

His dying breath has brought me life

I know that it is finished

Verse 3:

I will not boast in anything

No gifts no pow’r no wisdom

But I will boast in Jesus Christ

His death and resurrection

Why should I gain from His reward?

I cannot give an answer

But this I know with all my heart

His wounds have paid my ransom

Verse 1:

Out of my bondage sorrow and night, Jesus I come

Into Thy freedom gladness and light

Jesus I come to Thee Out of my sickness and into Thy health

Out of my want and into Thy wealth

Out of my sin and into thyself Jesus I come to Thee

Jesus I come to Thee

Verse 2: Out of my shameful failure and loss, Jesus I come

Into the glorious gain of Thy cross

Jesus I come to Thee

Out of earth's sorrows into Thy balm Out of life's storms and into Thy calm

Out of distress to jubilant psalm

Jesus I come to Thee

Jesus I come to Thee

Verse 3:

Out of unrest and arrogant pride, Jesus I come Into Thy blessed will to abide

Jesus I come to Thee

Out of myself to dwell in Thy love

Out of despair to glories above Upward for e’re on wings like a dove

Jesus I come to Thee

Jesus I come to Thee

Verse 4:

Out of the fear and dread of the tomb, Jesus I come

Into the joy and light of Thy home

Jesus I come to Thee Out of the depths of ruin untold

Into Your peace, Your sheltering hold

Ever Thy glorious face to behold Jesus I come to Thee

Jesus I come to Thee

Verse 1:

Oh how good it is when the family of God

Dwells together in spirit, In faith and unity

Where the bonds of peace of acceptance and love Are the fruit of His presence here among us

Chorus:

So with one voice we'll sing to the Lord And with one heart we'll live out His word

Till the whole earth sees the Redeemer has come

For He dwells in the presence of His people

Verse 2:

Oh how good it is on this journey we share

To rejoice with the happy and weep with those who mourn

For the weak find strength the afflicted find grace

When we offer the blessing of belonging

Verse 3:

Oh how good it is to embrace His command

To prefer one another, forgive as He forgives When we live as one, we all share in the love

Of the Son with the Father and the Spirit

Verse 1: What gift of grace is Jesus my redeemer

There is no more for heaven now to give

He is my joy my righteousness and freedom

My steadfast love My deep and boundless peace

To this I hold, my hope is only Jesus

For my life is wholly bound to his

Oh how strange and divine I can sing all is mine

Yet not I but through Christ in me

Verse 2:

The night is dark but I am not forsaken

For by my side the Savior he will stay

I labor on in weakness and rejoicing For in my need his power is displayed

To this I hold, my Shepherd will defend me

Through the deepest valley he will lead

Oh the night has been won And I shall overcome

Yet not I but through Christ in me

Verse 3: No fate I dread I know I am forgiven

The future sure the price it has been paid

For Jesus bled and suffered for my pardon And he was raised to overthrow the grave

To this I hold, my sin has been defeated

Jesus now and ever is my plea

Oh the chains are released I can sing I am free

Yet not I but through Christ in me

Verse 4:

With every breath I long to follow Jesus

For he has said that he will bring me home

And day by day I know he will renew me

Until I stand with joy before the throne To this I hold, my hope is only Jesus

All the glory evermore to him

When the race is complete Still my lips shall repeat

Yet not I but through Christ in me

Oh How Good It Is Keith and Kristyn Getty

Praying with First Baptist Church A Prayer Guide for the week of July 19

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Prayer of the week:
Consider using the Apostle Paul’s prayer from the book of Colossians 1:11 as a springboard for your own prayer
time this week. If you’re praying through the church directory, this is a great prayer to use as you pray for your
church family this week.
“we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may... be strengthened with all power,
according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy; ”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

We recognize our need for God’s help in all the areas of our lives. The categories and requests listed below are

intentional ways to pray for each other as a church family. For help in knowing how and what to pray for, look up

the Scripture included with each item.

Ongoing prayer items in the life of our church:

• Pray for opportunities and boldness to share the gospel with friends, family, co-workers (Matt. 28:19)

• Pray for conversions (John 3:3, Acts 16:14)

• Pray for the preaching of God’s word – for faithfulness, fruitfulness, and God’s glory (2 Tim. 4:2, 1 Cor. 2:4-5,

Isa. 55:10-11)

• Pray for the children of our church to hear and understand the gospel and be saved (Luke 8:8)

• Pray for increased one to one discipleship relationships in our church family (Matt. 28:19-20)

• Pray for unity in our diversity both on Sunday and through the week (Rom. 15:13, Eph. 4:2-3)

• Pray for continued growth and joy in the gospel (1 Cor. 15:1-5, 2 Pet. 1:12)

• Pray for growth in holiness, hatred of sin and growth in humility (Prov. 8:13, 1 Pet. 1:14-16)

• Pray for honest, loving relationships in our church (Col. 3:12-13, James 5:16)

• Pray for families: marriages to thrive, parents to teach/love/discipline carefully, and children to obey (Eph.

5:22-6:4)

• Pray that giving would be faithful, joyful, consistent, and sacrificial (2 Cor. 8:9)

Prayer items outside our church:

• Pray for hope and healing in our nation as we lament and grieve over recent effects of injustice and racism.

(Prov 6:16-19; Ps 77:1-3)

that will help protect all people from evil and unjust suffering. (1 Tim. 2:1-2, Rom. 13:1-7)

• Pray for the safety and good health of medical personnel, first responders, and those working on the front

lines of contact with those who are suffering with coronavirus.

gether for public worship. (Rom. 15:20, 1 Cor. 16:1-3, Matt. 28:19-20)

• Pray for our missionary partners around the world and especially those we are directly involved with: Mack

and LeAnn Stiles (Central Asia), Daniel and Brandi Spandler-Davison (East Asia), and Dave and JoAnn Brown

(Guatemala). Pray that the gospel would flourish and churches would be planted and strengthened through

their work. Pray God would strengthen their faith and supply their needs. (Ps 93:4, Col. 1:5-6, 1 Pet. 4:12-17)

Particular prayer items in the life of our church:

dom to know how to best glorify Him and to love one another well during this time. (Mt. 22:36-40)

Announcements ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

1. Ask Your Pastors Anything – Over the past several months, the elders have done a mid-week

devotional in the hopes of building the church up and pointing us to God. Starting July 22nd we want to

do something different for the summer. We’re asking you to email the pastors

([email protected]) with any question you’d like us to answer. We’ll then pick one of those

questions during the week and do our best to answer it by applying God’s word to the issue raised. That

means we need you to email those questions ASAP so we have time to answer them!

2. Glover Scholarship—Attention High School Graduates. If you plan to attend college in

the fall and would like to apply for the Glover Scholarship, please contact Bernice McGuire at 301-855-

5529 or [email protected]

3. Sunday Gatherings. We are now gathering for outdoor services on Sundays and will continue

during the current phase of reopening in Prince George’s County. Please take a moment to read this FAQ

sheet to know what to expect and to make sure you have all the relevant details. Service will continue to

be livestreamed online. Please contact the church office with any questions.

4. Giving. We encourage you to continue to faithfully give as a way to sustain the gospel ministry at

FBCUM and as a means for us to care for those in need as a church family. You can give online or mail in

your offering to the church office. To guide and help us consider the New Testament’s teaching on giving,

we’ve included a quick read here. Church members who have a benevolence request, please contact the

church office at [email protected].

5. Pastor's Weekly Devotional. A video from Pastor Zach and a devotional from one of the Elders

will be available online each Wednesday evening. Click here for this week’s devotional.
