Step into a Martian landscape! It’s Valentine’s Day in outer space! What on earth do space exploration and Valentine’s Day have in common? Magnets! The ARTSblock DIY Team invite you to step into a celestial backdrop to create a heartfelt snapshot printed in magnet form. You can give the finished magnetic photo to your sweetheart or simply display it on your refrigerator or spaceship door!

MANy WiShES Of GOOd fOrTuNE & hAPPiNESS Fox Riverside Theater Foundation at Fox Theater

Come celebrate the Lunar New Year Fest and the upcoming performance of the New Shanghai Circus (Feb. 10), with the Fox Foundation! Stop by and take the spotlight by singing songs to celebrate this New Year. We will also be decorating Chinese traditional colorful paper lanterns. The Association of Women in Science will be combining the use of Chinese tradition and everyday geometry skills by making red envelopes.

dESTiNATiON iNdiA: BEAdEd rAKhi BrACELETS & TrAdiTiONAL dANCE Mission Inn Museum

The Mission Inn is a mecca of international flair with rooms filled with items from all over the world. The Mission Inn Museum will be celebrating the Inn’s collection of artifacts from India at February’s First Sundays by making traditional Indian beaded Rakhi bracelets. We will also be featuring performances by the Riverside Dhamaka Indian dance group who will be presenting a dance workshop at 2:00 pm followed by dance performances at 2:30, 3:00, and 3:30. Come join us for this fun filled day and learn about Indian culture and its connection to the Inn!

We will have an interactive workshop led by nationally-renowned urban planner and founder of the Latino Urban Forum, James Rojas. Help build an ideal place to live using hundreds of simple objects. Miss Pamela will be back for face painting, at 2:00 PM the always delightful Karen Rae Kraut will be telling stories like only she can, and we will have eco-friendly and Valentine-related art crafts for all to enjoy! Also, show your support for youth education by purchasing and decorating a Hearts for RAM cutout for $1.00; RAM will proudly display them throughout the museum!

Next stop Florida’s beautiful Key West. We will be having fun getting our hand dirty making Sand Hand prints from 1-2. Then enjoy a special performance from Rudy’s Radical Science in the auditorium from 2-3. If you have not made a Sand Hand print yet don’t worry you still have time. From 3-4 make your own Sand Hand prints.
