Prayer of Confession in response to God’s infinite love and mercy. All: Ever-loving God,who knows the secrets of our hearts even when they are a puzzle to us, we admit to you the problems in our natures. We are seldom satisfied with what we have in life. We long for what others have, though we would soon become bored with it if it were ours. We do not realize our real worth and would like to be admired and famous. We often miss the simple gifts of every day because we are searching for what we do not have.

Teach us to wait before you in prayer. Open our eyes and ears to the beauty and mystery of ours. Give us wholeness in your kingdom, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life. “For God so loved the world that he gave

his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. “Indeed, God did not send the Son into the

world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Those who believe in him are not condemned; but those who do not believe are condemned already, because they have not believed in the name of the only Son of God. And this is the judgment, that the

light has come into the world, and people loved darkness rather than light because their deeds

were evil. For all who do evil hate the light and do not come to the light, so that their deeds may not be exposed. But those who do what is true come

to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that their deeds have been done in God.”

All: WE BELIEVE IN THE LOVE OF GOD THAT FORMS THE BASIS FOR ALL HUMAN LOVE:

THE LOVE PARENTS HAVE FOR THEIR CHILDREN ,

THE LOVE CHILDREN HAVE FOR THEIR PARENTS,

THE LOVE OF FRIENDS WHO REALLY CARE,AND EVERY LITTLE ACT OF KINDESS BESTOWED AS A GIFT IN THE HUMAN

COMMUNITY.

WE BELIEVE THAT GOD LOVED THE WORLD THROUGH CHRIST, WHO SHOWED WHAT IT

MEANS TO LOVE ANOTHER BY LAYING DOWN HIS LIFE FOR ALL THOSE WHO WOULD COME

AFTER HIM, EVEN IN OUR OWN TIME.WE BELIEVE THAT LOVE WILL EVENTUALLY TRIUMPH IN THE WORLD DESPITE ALL THE ENVY, HATE, AND GREED, DESPITE WARS

AND RUMORS OF WARS, AND DESPITE THE FACT THAT IT SEEMS SO RARE.

FOR LOVE IS OF GOD AND GOD IS LOVE, AND GOD WILL NOT REST UNTIL ALL ARE

RECONCILED IN LOVE.Amen!
