Welcome again to the event we call Rising Stars. We are so excited to again have this sale at ourplace. Last year the video auction went over great. Everyone in attendance really liked the format andwe have decided that we won’t go back to bringingthe live animals into a ring anytime soon. All the cattle offered for sale will be available for your inspection the day of the sale.

The only way I know how to have a sale is tooffer your best and I have done just that. Thisgroup of cattle I think is easily the best group ineach division we have put together.

A special thank you to all our friends in the cattle business and we really look forward to ournew friends yet to meet. Call me or anyone associated with the sale with any questions. Seeyou at the ranch on the 12th of December.- Chad Holtkamp

This division of bred heifers is a great mix of Angus, Simmental, andMaine-Anjou influenced genetics. We talk about maternal females andeach and everyone of these females in this division are backed by

proven genetics for the production of value added cattle. There are no pedigrees that you have to question whether or not they will milk or not. Allof these heifers are backed by proven sires and great cow families. We makeour living from our cows, purchase these females with confidence as they willwork for you also.

I like talking about success stories and this one ties it all together.MCLAUGHLIN CATTLE came to Rising Star I and purchased our high selling bred heifer (Fancy) for $10,900. Fancy’s first two natural calves paidback her initial investment. McLaughlin Cattle also enjoyed the ultimatethrill of witnessing Fancy’s offspring being named 2010 Reserve ChampionFoundation Simmental Heifer at the National Jr. Show and 5th Overall Heiferat the 2010 Iowa State Fair. We all want to make money on the cows butpride of ownership is pretty darn cool too!

AI: 6.10.10 DREAM ON PE: NONEWhat a place to start the Rising Star sale. We want to sell ourbest and when we looked into the bred heifer pen, Sweetnessstood out as the obvious choice to lead this event off. Dacotasuccessfully showed Sweetness. She’s a beautiful baldy with the caliber to compare to some of the top in the nation.Sweetness is a direct daughter of Big E, a past Rising Star highlight now owned with Grandstaff Cattle and Myers Cattleboth of Missouri. She is a maternal sib to Lil E, the great donorfor Craig Conrad. But most interesting she’s a full sib to Center of Attention, the promotional bull that sold in last yearsRising Star sale to Kirk Rodgers and Scott Snyder. This matingis for real and the cattle are good. Not many chances are offered to acquire this kind of bred heifer.Just think what this Dream On calf could be worth…interesting isn’t it?

AI: 6.19.10 EXTREME JUSTICEPE: NONEStudy up on this one! We are stacking upthe great steer sire cow pedigree here.Thisone reads great on paper but most importantly she is a standout amongthe standouts in person. I have an ab-solute addiction to black baldy cattleand she has it all. She’s bred to Extreme Justice which onlymeans that I was planning on keeping this one. There stillhas not been an Angus bull to move one as much as ExtremeJustice (Century Touchstone). Take note, Monopoly is out of aTouchstone daughter. Also, Weisingers sold the high sellingbull in Houston’s 2010 sale in Illinois which was out of an Extreme Justice daughter.

That’s why at the Rising Star, we offer maternal bred females you can breed club calf and raise one,not a club calf bred one you hope to raise one. Think aboutit…big difference. A true sale feature.Mated to Walks On Water and just think of the possibilities thismating could be. I have never been so excited in the anticipation of the Walks On Water calves. She has the potential to make a display bull or high selling steer or heifer.Oh by the way, she has consistently produced dollars. Sellingcalves for $8000, $7500, $5750 and $4000.

AI: 5.10.10 DREAM ON, PE: NONEOne of our all time great ones. Here’s her story. UndefeatedFoundation Simmental heifer in 2005. Fourth overall at theIowa Beef Expo. Star was the lead bred heifer and sale highlight in the Throgmartin Run For the Roses sale, held atthe Hilton Garden Inn in November 2005. She sold for $14,500to Tim Heckman and Jeff O’Leary. Her first calf sold for $7500and then a flush sold at the Frozen Gold for $5000 in 2006.Several other embryos have sold out of her. We sold 3 HeatWave embryos in our Rising Star I sale to Rich Yates, IL for$800 each and Rich raised a steer we sold for him in our 2009pasture sale for $9500. A year ago, Tim Heckman offered us hishalf of Star and we jumped at the opportunity. Jeff and Iflushed her last fall and she was very successful. We’ve put inseveral embryos and we’re expecting some great results in2011. Jeff would like to decrease his number of partnershipcattle so we decided to disperse our partnership and sell her inher entirety. Star has the coolest disposition and is in the prime of herproduction. She’s mated to Dream On for immediate return.

Don’t think twice on this opportunity. O’Learys have been greatpartners and its been a great ride!
