Hazards:
• An additional 2 to 6 inches of snow on top of what has already fallen
• One to two inch per hour snowfall rates are possible early this morning
• Blowing and drifting snow to continue along the North Shore, with lingering
blizzard conditions
• Lakeshore flooding continues near Duluth and Superior, and from Ashland to
Saxon Harbor
Areas Impacted: All of northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin
Timing & Duration: Snow will continue through this morning. Lakeshore
flooding should continue through the day today.
Impacts: Travel will continue to be dangerous, if not impossible, particularly near
Duluth north along the North Shore on Highway 61. Power outages are likely.
Historical Perspective: This has the potential for a top-10 highest two-day snowfall total in recorded history for Duluth, with top-15 for Ashland and Brainerd

Winter Weather Preparedness
Winter Hazard Definitions- A Blizzard Warning is issued when the combination of strong wind, low
visibility, and heavy snow will significantly impact the area. Avoid traveling if
possible!
- A Winter Storm Warning is issued when heavy snow or a combination of
heavy snow, blowing snow, and ice is expected to impact the area. Avoid
traveling if possible! Be sure to have a winter driving safety kit!
- A Lakeshore Flood Warning is issued when flooding is occurring or
expected along the lake. Residents should take appropriate action to protect
life and property!
• Winterize your car, and be sure to include a winter driving safety kit!
• Restock your emergency kit at home with batteries, food, water, etc.
• If you have a generator, make sure it is working – and NEVER run a generator in an enclosed space like a garage!
