Readings for the Day:

Exodus 2:23-25; 3:10-15; 4:10-17: Moses experienced the call

of God when God appeared to him in a bush that burned but wasnot consumed. When Moses expresses his unworthiness, God

promised to be with him. When Moses objected that peoplewould demand to know Gods name, God revealed his personalname, Yahweh (I AM WHO I AM), or the LORD. Israel discoveredGods true identity when God took them out of Egypt.

John 8:51-59: In an encounter with some Jews, Jesus challenges

them in that he says they do not know God but that he does. TheJews become angry and wonder how he could know God. Jesusresponds by telling them that before Abraham was, he was. Thiswas a way of telling people he was God.
