I’m happy to announce that we have a
Parish Missionpresented by Fr. Tom Sullivan, CPM
Fr. Sullivan is a Father of Mercy based out of Kentucky. The mission will begin the Fifth Sunday of Lent, March 29 at 7:00 PM. It will continue until Thursday, April 2, preparing us for the great days of Palm Sunday, Holy Week, and the Paschal Triduum. Fr. Sullivan clarifi ed to me that he does not do dual missions if a parish has two churches. Since St. John is the main worship site for our parish, the mission will have to take place at St. John only, as per his request. A complete schedule will follow in the coming weeks.
WHAT IS IT?It’s a three-day, three-night Catholic lay retreat presented by men & women who have attended prior ACTS retreats, under the guidance of a Spiritual Director and sponsored by the Church of the Holy Name of Mary in Croton On Hudson, NY. Retreat activities focus on Adoration, Community,
Theology and Service. The goals are to renew yourself spiritually, to strengthen your faith and its application in your daily life, and to create lasting and supporting friendships. Participants return to their parish faith communities with a deeper love for each other and a desire to become more involved. The upcoming Men’s retreat is scheduled for April 23-26, 2020
and the Women’s retreat is scheduled for May 7-10, 2020.For more information please contact:
[email protected] or call 845-214-3203.

Brothers and Sisters, Due to the current coronavirus-related situation aff ecting our area, the following change has been made at Mass and will remain in eff ect until further notice:The Sign of Peace • The Peace of the Lord be with you;
And with your spirit… • No longer will the Deacon or Priest say, “Let us
off er each other…”. Instead, we will go directly into the Agnus Dei/Lamb of God. Please refrain from embraces, handshakes, etc.
Holy Water FontsSome dioceses are no longer allowing holy water to be used in the fonts. Currently the Archdiocese of New York has no directive on this only that pastors are encouraged to change it frequently. If something does change, I will certainly keep the parish informed.
CommunionIt has a been recommended that Communion on the tongue be suspended until further notice. But it has not been mandated. If you wish to receive Communion on the tongue you may continue to do so. Stay Home If You Are IllPlease do not attend Mass if you are not feeling well especially if you are running a fever and/or have persistent cough. We should be doing this anyway, and not because of the coronavirus. Anytime we are ill with an infectious disease, charity and justice should compel us to stay home. In the past, it was a wrong idea to tell people they were in mortal sin for missing Mass due to illness. Infectious disease aff ects others! If we’re infi rmed with one such as a bad cold, fl u, etc., it is always best to stay home and consider the health of others fi rst. Mass can be watched on television during which one can make a “spiritual communion”.
Prayers and blessings, Fr. Palatucci
Dear Parishioners, I want to thank you from the depth of my heart for your kind and generous condolences and Mass cards for my brother Ted.
On Saturday, February 29, I off ered the memorial Mass for Ted at the Parish of St. Joseph, Bronxville. It was a small but beautiful Mass attended by immediate family. On March 27 Ted’s inurnment will take place at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, his fi nal wish.
Needless to say I will miss my brother very much, but I trust entirely in God’s mercy that Ted has found salvation in Christ. I gave him an anointing before he departed this world and he received Communion as well from his pastor.
Finally, may I request that you pray for the repose of his soul. God bless you, Fr. Palatucci
V. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord.
R. And let the perpetual light shine upon him.
V. May he rest in peace.
And may the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
