Sunday 29 December 2019 EVENING Time of Issue: 1700 hours IST ALL INDIA WEATHER SUMMARY AND FORECAST BULLETIN Significant Weather Features Yesterday, Severe cold wave and severe cold day conditions prevailed at most pockets over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar and in isolated pockets over Rajasthan. ♦ Due to favourable meteorological conditions, cold day to severe cold day conditions in most pockets very likely over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, north Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh on today, at many pockets on tomorrow, the 30th December and abate thereafter. Cold wave to severe cold wave conditions is also very likely at some pockets over parts of northwest & east India during next 2 days and abate thereafter due to change in wind pattern at lower levels. Dense fog to very dense fog at some pockets very likely over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, north Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and north Madhya Pradesh during next 2 days and reduce significantly thereafter. ♦ A fresh Western Disturbance is very likely to affect Western Himalayan region from 30th December night onwards. Under the influence of Western Disturbance and its interaction with lower level easterlies, major parts of Central & adjoining northwest India are very likely to experience fairly widespread to widespread rainfall accompanied with hailstorm at isolated places during 1st & 02nd January, 2020. Main Weather Observations Rain/Thundershowers observed (from 0830 hours IST of yesterday to 0830 hours IST of today): at isolated places over Coastal & South Interior Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep and Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal. Rainfall recorded at 0830 hours IST of today (1 cm or more): Agumbe, Bajpe and Mangalore-3 each. Significant Weather Features

♦ Yesterday, Severe cold wave and severe cold day conditions prevailed at most pockets over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar and in isolated pockets over Rajasthan.

♦ Due to favourable meteorological conditions, cold day to severe cold day conditions in most pockets very likely over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, north Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh on today, at many pockets on tomorrow, the 30th December and abate thereafter.

♦ Cold wave to severe cold wave conditions is also very likely at some pockets over parts of northwest & east India during next 2 days and abate thereafter due to change in wind pattern at lower levels.

♦ Dense fog to very dense fog at some pockets very likely over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, north Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and north Madhya Pradesh during next 2 days and reduce significantly thereafter.

♦ Fog observed at 0830 hours IST of today: Very dense fog in some pockets over Punjab and in isolated pockets over northwest Rajasthan, northeast Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra and Tamilnadu; Dense fog in isolated pockets over Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, East Rajasthan, Bihar and Manipur; Moderate fog in isolated pockets over Uttar Pradesh, Jammu division, Himachal Pradesh and northwest Madhya Pradesh.

Meteorological Analysis (Based on 1430 hours IST)

♦ The fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect Western Himalayan region from 30th December night onwards.

♦ The cyclonic circulation over Central Uttar Pradesh & neighbourhood at 0.9 km above mean sea level persists.

♦ The trough in easterlies from Maldives area to Lakshadweep area at 1.5 km above mean sea level persists.

♦ The cyclonic circulation over southeast Rajasthan & neighbourhood between 1.5 & 2.1 km above mean sea level persists.

Weather Forecast for next 5 days * upto 0830 hours IST of 03rd January, 2020

♦ Meteorological sub-division wise detailed 5 days precipitation forecast is given in Table-1.

♦ Fall in Minimum temperatures by 4-6°C over parts of Odisha during next 2-3 days. No significant change in minimum temperatures over the rest of the country during next 2-3 days.
