OPERATION COVER UP Thank you for knitting woollen blankets
and garments and to the people who have donated wool. Items will
be gathered for shipping the end of June.
Information from the Mission Without Borders magazine “Overcomers”
is available in the foyer. This year they want “clothing items for adults
and children only; NO hats or beanies and NO baby clothes”. This is
distressing for those of us who have already made these items. I am
awaiting clarification as to when a baby becomes a child and whether
we should store what we already have, for next year. If you would like
to do some knitting or crochet I have wool available.
Alice Robson 489 4074 Operation Cover Up Co-ordinator

Looking for articles for the Parish Magazine!
A book review, a favourite recipe, an original poem, an article about a recent holiday – all
these and more are sought for our next parish magazine. Deadline = Friday 20th May but we
would happily receive them sooner. We look for positive, encouraging, light reading for the
magazine. Drop them into the office to Shona or email them to [email protected]
OR directly to Robyn Taylor [email protected].
Did your children grow up here? We would love to have a magazine article from you telling
us “Where are they now?” It doesn’t take a lot of writing and up to date photos are always
very acceptable. Check out some back-dated issues of the magazine for the kind of thing we
are looking for. Deadline = 20th May as above.
The Popular Cheese Rolls for Fundraising is back! Julie Judd and her
faithful team are making their yummy cheese rolls again –orders no later than 7 May (a week earlier than the date in the magazine, sorry!) The rolls will be made on 14th May and available for collection Sunday 15 May. Costs: $5 per dozen: i.e. $10 for two dozen, $15 for three dozen etc. Order your cheese rolls after church
on Sunday or phone Karen Willis: 489 2228 or Julie Judd 489 4409 (evenings)
“What on earth am I here for?” Based on Rick’s Warren’s Book: What on earth am I here for?
(new edition of The Purpose Driven life)
Everyone is encouraged to join a home group just for April and May (even if you are not able to commit any longer than that.) Sermons at Mosgiel will be around the home group topic. These sermons will be preached at North Taieri a little later in the year.
TODAY 24 April:Mosgiel at 10am sermon “You were formed for God’s family.” Days 15 – 18 of Rick Warren’s Book
SECOND Home Group Study: Any day or night of the fortnight that starts on Monday 25 April. Topic: Purpose #3 You were Created to become like Christ. Leaders: THIRD study available today
HOME GROUPS VOLUNTEERS WANTED: Would you like an opportunity to show the love of Jesus to elderly residents by giving up one Sunday morning a month to help with Church Services at Mossbrae Healthcare. ASK Helen about it. (this is over and above what home groups are already doing)
Services are short and informal: 3 or 4 hymns or songs, a Bible reading, a mini-message (3 – 5 mins), opening and closing prayer.

The Easiest Fund-Raiser ever! If you use either the envelope system or an automatic payment for your church offerings you will have recently received a receipt for the financial year just past. On the table in the foyer there is a bundle of forms to claim a third of those donations back from IRD. It’s very simple. Once you have received your refund you can decide what you’ll do with it – if we all put a percentage (or even all) of our refund back into the offering it would cost us nothing and help the church’s finances wonderfully. Think about it. Pray about it. Collect a form today.
Envelope Offering System and/or Automatic Payments It helps us hugely when people give regularly either by the envelope system or by automatic payments. (And these are the only systems that generate receipts that you can then use to get a refund from IRD). If you are interested in going onto the envelope system see Les Gillespie (Ph: 4896013), and if you are interested in setting up an automatic payment: our bank account number is: 020938 0020934 00
We raised $1,099.60
BANNER MAKERS: Embroiders, quilt makers and all those interested in creating a work of
art to glorify God. Bring your ideas and talents to a meeting at Judith Jack’s home 32
Silverstream Drive. 3pm on the 11th of May. Enquiries to Judith Jack or Hazel McAdam.
SINGLES’ LUNCH - 1 May at “The Station” 12 noon Booking form on table
