INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS
FOR THE 2017-2018 YEAR
Installation of Officers will be on the 13th of May here at the Legion cocktails 5-6 and dinner at 6
PM with Installation and awards to follow and the cut off for sign up is 6 May and the menu is Pot
Roast or Ham, mashed potatoes and veggie, salad, rolls and brownie with ice cream for dessert the
cost is $10.00 a person and you get 3 drink tickets and it is limited to 120 people so get your tickets
early and the awards will be handed out after the election of Officers. If you are not going to come
to the Installation dinner and you still want your continuous service award let me know and I will
leave it at the bar or mail it to you. Adjutant Bill Mastin. (ONLY MEMBERS OF POST 789
WILL RECEIVE 3 DRINK TICKETS WITH THE INSTALLATION DINNER TICKET.)

MEMORIAL DAY ACTIVITIES
Volunteers are needed to put flags at Fairview and St. James cemeteries meet here on Sunday May
21st at 0900. Meet here on the Saturday May 27th at 0830 we will be going to Fairview to the Le-
gion plot and Baxter’s grave, Civil War, Sand Hill and Natural Bridge Cemetery, then to Deferiet
Fire Hall Monument, Great Bend Monument, West Carthage to Bassett’s Grave, Jarvis plot, Turn-
ing Stone Park monument and ending with our Legion plot at the post to do service and wreath
placing. On Monday May 29th be here at 8:30 for coffee and donuts and then line up in West Car-
thage at 09:30, parade at 10 AM. Open House to follow at both the Legion and VFW. Cemetery
flags may be picked up after 15th May 2016.

Happy Spring to the Carthage Legion Family
We are coming close to the end of our administration for the year
2016/2017. I personally want to thank each and everyone that has helped
served this year and most of all, THANK YOU for serving our Veterans and
our Community.
The nominating committee has presented to this point the following
incoming officers elect.
President, Jennifer Johnson, 1st VP April Pike, 2nd VP VACANT, Secretary
Mary Tucker, Treasurer, Judy Wallace, Executive Committee, Amy
McEathron, Debbie Swem, Mary Beirman, VP of Greeter-ship Christina At-
kins.
If there is anyone interested in running for 2nd VP please let our nominating
committee know. The chair of the committee is Debbie Atkins.
Don't forget we are having installations of the officers and awards and
following the presentations, we will be doing initiation of ANY new members
that have NOT been initiated as of yet.
BUS TRIP to benefit the Auxiliary is on May 7th leaving the AMES
parking lot at 9am and we are going to the new casino in Waterloo, del Lago
Resort & Casino and then going to the Waterloo outlet mall and back to Car-

Riverside Drive to make your reservations. We have a 55 passenger bus and we
are filling up quick.
