Learn all about local wildlife with Ranger Daphne Moland from the Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge. Kids can also make a snake craft!
Burritt on the Mountain Museum Program
Tasks took longer in the 1800s than they do today. Join Alice Kirsch from Burritt on the Mountain
Museum for this hands-on look at history. Kids will learn about churning butter and how wool gets from
a sheep to a shawl.
Story Time with Molly & Patterson
Enjoy a Story Time with Molly Felder and her service dog, Patterson, as they share the story of Henry the Boy.
Henry uses forearm crutches decorated with animal stickers. This heartwarming
story is for kids of all ages.
Florence Indian Mound Museum Museum Curator Brian Murphy will
present this program about North Alabama Native Americans.
Kids & Kin Story Time Presented by Tammie Hill from the Family
Guidance Center of Alabama. Kids & Kin is a program for anyone caring for the children of
others, but this Story Time will feature fun and resources for all families and everyone is welcome.
Story Time Merida will read a Brave story, as well
as The Wonky Donkey. We’ll also have a craft and coloring sheet.

Story Time Presented by Master Storyteller
Josie S. Bailey, this interactive story time will take participants on an imaginative trip into outer space to search out alien life-forms while
learning about other planets and galaxies.
Presented by Randall Blackwood, Park Naturalist at Cathedral
Caverns State Park, participants will learn all about rocks, fossils & gems!
We’ll even dig in a sand pit for gems and colorful stones that kids can keep!
All Summer Reading Programs are FREE and everyone is welcome.
You do not have to have a library card to attend any event, though two
events require tickets and are marked.
STORYWALK®: Mama Built a Little
Nest by Jennifer Ward & Steve Jenkins will kick-off at 12:00pm at the Atkeson Cypress Trail at Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge. The StoryWalk® will remain up through June 30th.
Milo’s Pie Party *Tickets required for this event*
Tickets will be given to the first 150 kids who:
1. Turn in at least 2 weekly reading logs (from different weeks)
AND 2. Pick up a ticket at the Youth Services Desk
Tickets are available from June 24th - 25th. Ticket holders will be able to participate in this event presented by Morgan Gray from Milo’s
Hamburgers. We’ll have pie and lemonade provided by Milo’s while we do an Eric Carle-
inspired craft in honor of his birthday on June 25th.
Famous Alabamians Book Club School-aged kids will meet in the Community Room to discuss books about famous Alabamians. Read
any book about the featured person and be ready to discuss them.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten GRADUATION Dr. Jameha Gardner - Associate Professor at Athens State University - will
speak briefly about the importance of early literacy. Children who have completed the program will receive a certificate. Refreshments and graduation crafts will be available for all who attend. If you don’t know about 1KBB4K, you can learn about
the program and how to participate with your pre-Kindergartener at this event!
50th
Anniversary Celebration of Apollo 11 *All-ages program; takes place in the main area at DPL*
Kevin Alspaugh, from the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, will present this program about the Apollo 11 lunar landing. Weather permitting, he will take
participants outside after the presentation and show the actual landing site on the moon using his telescope. We will also have moon crafts for kids.
Story Time
R. K. Lustig - local author of Silas and the Moon Dogs - will start off this Story Time featuring her book. Then Rosie the Robot (courtesy of
Magical Memories AL) will share another story. We’ll also have a space-themed craft!
This program will have story time, crafts, and even some science experiments…all with a focus on Alabama! Presented by Sara Kunau from the Alabama Department
of Archives and History.
Milo’s Milk Shake Celebration *Tickets required for this event*
Tickets will be given to the first 50 kids who: 1. Turn in at least 5 weekly reading logs by July 16
th AND
2. Pick up a ticket at the Youth Services Desk on July 15th
or 16th
Ticket holders will be able to participate in this event presented by Morgan Gray from Milo’s Hamburgers. We’ll have frozen, unblended milk shakes on hand and kids can add their choice of flavors.
Presented by Barry McNealy, from the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute This interactive program will introduce and explore the lessons of the civil rights
movement in a way that kids can understand.
Vegetable Soup Story Time *Takes place at the Morgan County/Decatur Farmers Market*
Mrs. Mary will host a story time at the Farmer’s Market to teach kids about growing vegetables - starting with the necessary tools to garden and taking
them through the process of growing!
Farming Story Time Elizabeth Thompson, Manager of Morgan County/Decatur Farmers Market,
will present this story time teaching kids all about farming!
Creatures of the Galaxy Presented by Animal Tales This exciting program features a variety of exotic animals from all around the world that can be found throughout the cosmos in Constellations. This
will be an interactive learning experience! Kids can see a Martial Arts demonstration,
presented by Webster’s Martial Arts Academy.
