    changing much over the years, anew poll released hursday sug-gests.

    Most Canadians still plan to dec-orate their houses and eat a roastturkey for dinner, according to asurvey of 1,505 Canadians, con-ducted by Abacus Data this week for QMI Agency.

    Most Canadians are still very traditional when it comes toChristmas, although the majority arent celebrating it as a religiousholiday, Abacus Data CEO DavidColetto said.

    Of the 1,346 people surveyed who said they planned to celebrateChristmas, 41% said they celebrateit as a religious holiday, with 50%celebrating it as a secular holiday and 9% unsure.

    More than three-quarters of those celebrating Christmas planto decorate their houses, and are

    most likely to roast a Christmasturkey to mark the occasion.

    Merry Christmas is still thepreferred expression to greet peo-ple over the course of the season.

    he survey also asked Cana-dians to name one famous per-son they would choose to inviteto Christmas dinner. Answers were spread out and ranged frompolitical (Barack Obama, 5%, andStephen Harper, 2%), to pop-cul-ture (Celine Dion and Oprah Win-frey, 2%), to religious (Jesus, 2%,and the Dalai Lama, 1%).

    Te survey has a margin of errorof 2.6%, 19 times out of 20.
