RECKLESS DAYS WITH ROBIN HOOD (Grades 5-8) TWO WEEK Camp in Lee’s SummitReady for an exciting one-of-a-kind experience? You can be in the world premiere of a new musical by a local young theatre genius, Ryan Beard (Coterie Young Playwrights' Roundtable member). This irreverent, fractured fairytale version of Robin Hood plays with our expectations of the familiar characters, playfully turning them upside down. Great roles for males and females, and songs with hilarious lyrics. Be part of the fun! All students enrolled will have a speaking role—some large and some small. All students will also sing in the chorus and some will have solos. Auditions will be held the first day and the casting will be determined then.PERFORMANCES: Friday, July 22 at 7pm & Saturday, July 23 at 7pm (both required) at Longview Community College.

YOUNG SHERLOCK (Grades 5-10) TWO WEEK Camp in LibertyJoin Sherlock Holmes and his new friend Watson at boarding school! This origin tale inspired by the books tells of how this sleuthing duo first met and solved their first case. A fun script with great roles for girls and boys. All students enrolled will have a speaking role—some large and some small. INTO THE WOODS JR (Grades 5-10) TWO WEEK Camp at Pembroke HillCombining the story of all the best Grimm Brothers fairytales, this award-winning musical will send you on an unexpected journey! Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood, and more set out to break the witch’s curse. Featuring the rich music of Stephen Sondheim, this show will be a fun challenge for all actors. Hop into a fairytale! All students enrolled will have a speaking role—some large and some small. DRACULA AT LARGE (Grades 9-12) ONE WEEK High School-Only Camp in Lee’s SummitCount Dracula seems like just another customer to real estate salesman Jonathan Harker. Well, except for his really long fangs, his lack of a reflection, his fear of garlic and crosses, and his intolerance of sunlight. Combining humor and horror, this play is sure to give actors a fun challenge!All students enrolled will have a speaking role—some large and some small. TRAVEL TO MADAGASCAR (Grades K-2 / 1-2 at PLZ only)Escape from the New York Central Zoo with your friends from Madagascar! Have fun exploring new lands and having new adventures as a zoo animal stranded in a new land. Together we will create characters, tell stories, and sing music from the musical landing on The Coterie stage. Get ready for some big adventures!

Let your imagination run wild as you take everyday objects and use them to create a world full of amazing adventures. Come join this class and transform the ordinary into something extraordinary!

PINKARRIFIC! (Grades K-2)Join Pinkalicious and her brother Peter through their very colorful adven-tures. Help them find a cure for Pinkatitus, search high and low for the magical unicorn Goldilicious, turn the world Emeraldalicious, and so much more. This is a rainbow of fun for everyone!

SUMMER TERM AT HOGWARTS (Grades 3-5)Join all your favorite characters from the Harry Potter series as you enter into a magical world filled with wizards, dragons, trolls, and elves. Act out scenes as Harry and his friends go to classes, play Quidditch, and even battle He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named. Immerse yourself in this exciting world all week, and come out a full-fledged wizard! BROADCAST: MAYHEM! (Grades 3-5)What happens when you put cowboys in operas? Or set a ballet underwa-ter? This class will explore and mix-up genres, characters, and settings like never before. Let your imagination run wild as you work with your fellow actors to create crazy new stories!

FANTASY AND GORE MAKEUP (Grades 4-7)Students will learn the process of making realistic looking bruises, scars, and cuts. Together with a professional teaching artist they will experiment with theatrical makeup techniques as they discover the transformative power of makeup. Each day young makeup artists, will participate in theatre games, activities, and scenes inspired by their character creations. They’ll walk away bruised, scarred, and bleeding with their own profession-al makeup kit in hand.

FUNNY BONES: INTRO TO IMPROV (Grades 5-7 / 6-8 at PLZ only)Get your funny started as you begin to learn all about comedy and improv! This fun and fast-paced class introduces young actors to the wide open world of improvisational comedy! Students will develop skills in sponta-neity, listening, creativity, storytelling, and collaboration as they explore their silly side!

AUDITION LAB (Grades 5-7 & Grades 8-12 / 6-8 & 9-12 at PLZ)This class is a great way to prepare yourself for upcoming auditions! With the help of a professional teaching artist, students will choose audition monologues that match their age, personality, and individual audition needs. Students will use the week to prepare a monologue, develop successful strategies for cold readings, and learn how to create a professional resume. The final class includes a special audition with Jeff Church, Coterie Producing Artistic Director, or a member of The Coterie staff, for youth roles in the upcoming Coterie season.

WELCOME TO MUSICAL THEATRE (Grades 5-10)If you like acting, singing, and dancing, then musical theatre is for you! In this class, you will perform showstoppers from Broadway. Students will spend the week exploring character, learning choreography, and singing as an ensemble under the direction of an expert musical theatre actor and accompanist. Students will perform as a chorus for family and friends during the final class.

ADVANCED MUSICAL THEATRE (Grades 6-12*)Take your musical theatre skills to the next level by performing duets, solos, and small group numbers from popular musicals. Continue to build on your skills and be challenged in new and exciting ways! Actors will rehearse scenes, songs, and dance numbers under the direction of a professional musical theatre actor and accompanist. Students will perform a variety of numbers for family and friends during the final class.*We encourage 6th-10th graders to take Welcome to Musical Theatre to establish a strong foundation before taking Advanced Musical Theatre SMASH (making synthesis theatre) (Grades 8-12 / 9-12 PLZ only)Have you ever heard a song that samples from another one? Or seen a piece of art that reimagines the way a classic looks? Now it’s your turn to do the same thing with theatre! Take scripts from popular plays, excerpts from your favorite books, music over decades, and throw in your own ideas to create unique scenes and monologues that you will perform on the last day. This class will use this mixture of mediums as an exciting way to challenge yourself to grow as an actor and artist.

COMEDY ON YOUR FEET (Grades 8-12 / 9-12 PLZ only)This popular Coterie class introduces students to the wide-open world of improvisation. Students new to improv will learn the framework needed for successful comedy and alumni will sharpen their comedic skills as they learn about comedy, creating character, and dramatic action. This class offers an opportunity for consideration in The Coterie’s Comedy Master Class.
