Reception

The Reception children have been very busy writing and illustrating some imaginative dinosaur stories this week. They have also been using themselves to demonstrate ‘take away’ sums in Maths.

Year 2 Ancient Greek OlympicsOn Thursday the Year 2 children enjoyed a Greek picnic of feta salad, tzatziki and baclava before taking to the field to compete in their Ancient Greek Olympics. The events consisted of long jump, shot put, javelin and discus, and the children all very much enjoyed having a go at these, as well as dancing in the music tent and taking part in a huge game of rounders. Terrific fun! After all the fun and games, Mrs Franklin and Mr Wren gave each child a personalised Olympic medal made from salt dough.

It was a very pleasant afternoon, with piano, violin and recorder pieces to enjoy. Our thanks to the music teachers and Mrs Bangham for organising the concert.

Year 1It has been a week of outdoor learning for Year 1 this week, who have very sensibly moved out of their classrooms and into the respite of some shady areas and the breeze. They children have uncovered their mummified apple segments, carried out some investigations into evaporation, and even been on a hunt for place-value sums hidden around the playground.
