Thetown is lively, but not too big; it has its own sandy beaches within walking distanceof the school; it is very close to Port Aventura - one of Europe's largest theme parksand it is only an hour from Barcelona by bus or train. International House TarragonaInternational House Tarragona was founded in 1980. The school occupies 1 floor ofa typical Tarragona town house and is situated in the very centre of the city.
The course is run as a joint venture between IH Barcelona and IH Tarragona. TheDirector of IH Tarragona and his team have extensive experience of organising juniorcourses and dealing with younger students - almost 90% of IH Tarragona's studentsare under the age of 18.
The CourseClasses are given by a team of experienced, professional teachers who have beenspecifically trained to teach Spanish as a foreign language. The classes will focus ondeveloping the students' communicative skills so that they are able to use theirSpanish outside the classroom.
The course fee includes the following services:
n Airport transfer service on arrival and departure
n 3 hours of Spanish classes per day in multinational groups of up to a maximum of 12 students
n All teaching materials, tests and certificates
n Host family or residence accommodation, normally in shared rooms
n Full board (with packed lunches or dinners some weekdays and on excursions)
n Full social programme of sports and other activities including local visits and excursions
n Local bus pass, given to students whose accommodation is more than afifteen minute walk from school
n Basic medical insurance policy

Social and Cultural ProgrammeThe course includes a very full programme of excursions and other activities with allcosts covered by the course fee. See the example programme at the bottom of thepage for details.
AccommodationTwo types of accommodation are available:
Host FamiliesThe school carefully selects all host families, who have undergone Criminal RecordsChecks, and who all undertake to provide students with a full range ofaccommodation services including three meals per day. Students with dietaryrestrictions or any other special needs are requested to make these known in advance.Almost all the host families live within walking distance of the school. However, insome cases it may be necessary for students to take a bus from their family to theschool. In this case a student bus pass is included in the course fee.
Student ResidenceThe residence is located in the city centre, less than 15-minutes walk fromInternational House. The residence, which provides accommodation throughout theacademic year to students from the University of Tarragona, was opened in 1998 andis very well maintained. Accommodation is available in spacious double roomsequipped with wardrobes, writing desks and chairs, desk lamps and bookcases.Sheets and towels are provided. Accommodation includes all meals. Facilities that areavailable free to students include a TV lounge, a computer room, separate studyrooms, and a small gymnasium. Washing machines are also available for a smallcharge. Students are provided with a key to their room. (However, see the CurfewPolicy section below).
The monitors responsible for the program of activities as well as some of the teachersstay in the residence for the duration of the course and one of their keyresponsibilities is to help supervise the well being of the students at all times.

The school
Curfew policy: The school operates a strict curfew policy which ensures that allstudents aged 13-14 are back at their accommodation by 22.30 and studentsaged 15-17 by 23.30, except on Fridays and Saturdays when the deadline isextended until 23.30 and 00.30 respectively. This policy is strictly enforced bothby the host families and the monitors at the residence.
Summer Spanish Course in
Tarragonafor Teenagers (aged 13-17)
This course takes place in the coastal resort of Tarragona, approx. 100 km south of Barcelona.The course includes 3 hours of Spanish tuition per day, full board accommodation in host families or in en-suite rooms in a student residence, airport transfers on arrival and departure, and a varied and supervised programme of activities and excursions.
Please note that Spanish classes may be scheduled to take place in the mornings, afternoons and evenings. Some classes may occasionally take place in classrooms in the student residence.
Starting Dates
The course runs from the 26th of June to the 30th of July 2016 and students will be able to stay from 1 to 5 weeks. Possible starting dates are therefore as follows:
June: 27 (1-5 weeks) July: 4 (1-4 weeks) July: 11 (1-3 weeks) July: 18 (1-2 weeks) July: 25 (1 week)
Please note that students should arrange arrival flights for the Sunday before their course starts and departure flights for the Saturday after their course finishes. If it is impossible to arrange transport to coincide with arrival and departure times, please contact us to check that alternative arrangements can be made. Extra nights are usually available on payment of a supplement.

Please also note that these prices include airport transfers from Barcelona Airport, from 07.00 to 22.00 (arrival time at the airport). If students need a transfer before 07.00 or after 22.00, on other days or from other airports, fees could be increased from 60 to 200 euros per transfer. Transfers are also available from Girona and Reus Airports. Prices on request. Important: we need to receive the arrival details (flight times and number) at least 5 working days before arrival.
Enrolments
All individual enrolments should be accompanied by a deposit of 210.00 euros which can be paid by credit card, bank transfer or cheque. Cheques, in euros, should be made payable to International House Barcelona S.L. and sent to the Barcelona school address. Transfers should be made to our bank account which has the following IBAN number: ES84 0081-0057-34-0003159319, (Swift code: BSA BES BB) and is held at the Banco de Sabadell, Via Layetana 47, Barcelona. Please note that any bank charges incurred on payment of the deposit will be added to the balance of the course fee. However we do not charge commission on credit card payments. Enrolment and payment can be made with complete security from our website.
Payment
The balance of fees is due at least 2 weeks before the first day of the course. Once we have received full payment, we will send all accommodation details.
Cancellations
Where a cancellation is received 10 days or more before the course is due to start, the deposit is refunded less 120.00 euros for expenses. For cancellations received with less than 10 days notice, the deposit is non-refundable. Once the course has started, the cost of the entire programme (course and accommodation) is non refundable.
Under exceptional circumstances, and at the discretion of the school Director, students’ unused fees can be held on account for up to 12 months. In other words, the unused fees (not including the first week’s course & accommodation fees which act as the cancellation fee) can be used to study at any of the International House VIVA Group schools for up to a maximum of 12 months after the cancellation date.
Please note: We recommend all students take out a course cancellation insurance policy to protect them against such an incident.
Insurance
All students will be covered by a basic medical insurance policy while in Tarragona. However, we strongly recommend students to take out additional travel insurance in their country of origin to cover any loss, sickness or accident which may occur during the course.

SECTION 1
RULES FOR ALL STUDENTS Attendance of classes and of all activities in the Social Program is compulsory. Students must be punctual for both classes and activities. Eating and drinking anything but water in the classrooms is not allowed. Students are not allowed to go out alone: they must either stay with the group or
remain in pairs at all times. They must inform a member of the Program staff wherethey are going and what time they will return.
Students must not leave the school or Social Program without permission from amember of the Program staff.
Smoking is not allowed at any time on the program. The possession or drinking of alcohol is STRICTLY PROHIBITED and parents/agents will be
informed immediately of any infringements. Students must attend all meals in their host family’s house. Curfew hours for all students (set by school): Sunday to Thursday 23:00, Fridays and
Saturdays 24:00. NB Host Families may set earlier curfews. Students MUST respect these curfew times. Students at the Residence may be accompanied by monitors during the evenings and
who will ensure that curfew times are respected.

Barcelona/Tarragona and the Program staff are not responsible for students who infringe
these rules. Failure to comply may be a cause for expulsion from the Program. All costs

SECTION 3
So that students can take full part in the blogs and podcasts as part of the Spanish classes,
we sometimes need to take photographs of our students and record their voices speaking
Spanish on the internet. Group photos may also be taken with local dignitaries at the City
Hall. We would therefore like to ask you for permission to use photographs of your child
during program activities and record their voices during class activities. Please note that
these photos could also be used in our publicity, whose sole purpose would be the promotion
of International House's Language programs.
