ARIANA together with Institut auf dem Rosenberg welcomes children and teens from all over the world and guarantees a structured daily routine, educational excellence, and individual care. Ariana camps are equally suitable for pupils who wish to spend meaningful and ac-tive holidays and also for those who wish to improve their school performance. Lessons in English, German, or French are taught in small classes. In addition, private lessons can be arranged upon request. Our language programmes are

practical and are combined with an at-tractive variety of cultural and sporting activities. The courses are also very suit-able for pupils interested in joining the regular school year at the Institut auf dem Rosenberg in St. Gallen. The summer camps take place in June, July, and August in Arosa: Ari-ana Arosa Junior Academy (6–16 years), St. Gallen (14–20 years), and Seefeld/Tyrol/Austria (14–18 years). Lessons in English, German, or French take place in the morning. In addition, we offer

special preparation weeks for the IELTS or the SAT tests in St. Gallen. Afternoons are dedicated to leisure time activities and sports such as swimming, hiking, tennis, golf, horse riding, and water ski-ing (depending on the course location). Attendance of any of our courses would also provide a gentle introduction into full boarding school life.

The Ariana Arosa Adult Academy invites adults to improve their English or German skills. It is an excellent op-portunity also for the parents or grand-parents of the Ariana Arosa Junior Academy students to spend a holiday in the famous Swiss mountains and at the same time giving them the oppor-tunity to learn or improve their English or German language skills. The Winter Camp at St. Gallen (mid-January to mid-March) uniquely combines an intensive English learning programme with the opportunity to practice winter sports, thus enriching the boarding school ex-perience with a taste of Swiss culture.

Sending your children to camp is an im-portant family decision. As the choices be-come increasingly abundant, and coun- tries more reachable, these selections are growing in difficulty, every year.

So why choose Gstaad for your child’s camp experience? Gstaad is a village that exemplifies the true beauty of Switzerland. With over 220 km of spectacular pistes dur-ing the winter and stunning mountain pastures in the summer, campers get to enjoy carefully designed programmes, from adventure activities such as rock climbing, high ropes, and river rafting to picturesque walks or overnights in beautiful mountain huts. Great swim-ming pools, tennis courts, and a golf course are only a few examples of Gsta-ad’s first-class infrastructure.

So why choose Lovell International Camps? They offer unique quality and attention to detail. A family-owned company with over 40 years of experience running in-ternational schools and camps.

Since 1970, the Lovells have wel-comed thousands of children into their family like atmosphere to experience the best of what camps have to offer, specializing in providing children with programmes that combine outdoor and cultural adventures, with effective lan-guage instruction. Lovell Camps helps children dis-cover what talented individuals they are by providing a challenging and fun environment. When children leave for camp they become more independent, and Lovell Camps helps to develop this through a carefully planned pro-gramme that has evolved over the last four decades. Building confidence, self-esteem, leadership, and social skills; all while taking responsibility for them-selves, learning new skills, making in-ternational friendships, achieving indi-vidual success. They provide both summer and winter camps in the heart of the world famous alpine resort. One-week camp sessions are available to individuals and groups from December through March, and two-, three-, and four-week sessions

are offered in July and August, with spe-cial group programmes in June. Summer activities include tennis, horse riding, golf, sports and games, ar-chery, mountain biking, rock climbing, hiking, overnight adventures, cultural excursions, language instruction in English or French, etc. Winter activities include profession-al ski or snowboard teaching, language instruction in French, English or Ger-man, indoor rock climbing, swimming, excursions, igloo building, leadership activities, ice-skating, etc.

What is unique about Institut Monte Rosa’s learning environment?Monte Rosa is not an ordinary board-ing school. We pride ourselves in offer-ing a highly individualized educational experience to our students and their parents. We are what some call a ‘bou-tique’ boarding school, with just 50 to 80 students, where a genuine Family-like atmosphere exists. We know all of our students by name and quickly get to know their personalities. We offer many tutorials, private lessons, and are able to provide a level of personalized service that is very difficult to achieve in larger schools. Even during the summer cours-es, we offer an ‘à la carte’ menu for each child with a wide choice of activities to choose from, including special excur-sions to Zermatt, our ‘Top of Europe’ and a ‘Swiss Tour’.

What does the setting of Institut Monte Rosa in Montreux add to the educational experience of students? We are indeed very lucky to be situated in a prime location on the shores of Lake Geneva; the climate in Montreux is very

mild for Switzerland. It is a place of har-mony ideal for studies and a balanced education. Whether it is during the academic year programmes, summer or winter holiday courses, our students can really enjoy all the activities made pos-sible by our proximity to both the lake and the Swiss Alps. Our students also ap-preciate the fact that we are close to vari-ous cities such as Lausanne, Geneva, and Bern with plenty of cultural and leisure activities on offer all year round.

Is there any reason why you continue to use the term summer ‘courses’ and not ‘camp’? Even during the summer, we do place a special focus on learning: 20 lessons of English, French, German with two additional conversation classes weekly, regular tests and a class project, in or-der to obtain a certificate, make it a challenging and stimulating time for each child. Even with short stays, we often see considerable progress in the students’ language skills. Our teachers are all native speakers and we encour-age the students to use their language

of study from morning to night. We also offer private mathematic lessons. That said, the fun part is also there, with over 50 activities to choose from in the afternoon, evening, and on full day ex-cursions. Teaching boys and girls of different nationalities to live side by side in a spirit of democracy, through sports, open air activities, and language courses: that is the main aim of our summer courses. At Monte Rosa each day is an unforget-table experience!

For more than two decades, Haut-Lac International Bilingual School has been offering bilingual holiday camps for youngsters. A combination of language courses in the morning and activities in the afternoon is proposed. Programmes can be put together according to the preferences and inclinations of children aged 5 to 15, with the choice of a theme for the whole week, or a combination of enjoyable activities such as sailing, golf-ing, cooking, riding, and many more!

What makes Haut-Lac different from other Camps? Our Staff – We choose our staff well and train them to focus on the ex-perience each participant will have. We provide them with great working conditions and plenty of free time to recuperate and recharge their batter-ies in order to retain the energy and

enthusiasm which is vital to the suc-cess of working with young people.

Our Programme – We aim to offer a high quality all-inclusive programme with a wide variety of sports, activities, and excursions. We want everyone to experi-ence new and exhilarating adventures while they are with us.

Our Care – We deliver what we promise, which is a caring, fun-filled, and exciting programme. Camp participants may not always get exactly what they want, but we strive to help them learn and experi-ence something that meets their needs!

Our Location – The day camps take place in the scenic surroundings of our new cam-pus site in St. Legier near Vevey, overlook-ing Lake Geneva and facing the French Alps. It offers well-designed and comfort-

able premises, housing not only fabu-lous sport facilities and a dining room with a stage, but also polyvalent class-rooms, a library, art and music rooms, as well as science and technology labs. Camp manager Gregory Liégeois says: “We have a very high return rate of students who have also promoted us to family and friends, which we believe says more about the quality of pro-grammes we run than anything else.” With over 20 years’ experience in bi-lingual education, as well as organising seasonal and day camps, we trust that children will love being part of Haut-Lac’s great family adventure, filled with enthu-siasm and enjoyment in learning and life.

Active English, a long established over-night camp for children from 7 to 12 years old, continues to provide families with high standard, quality camps and has chosen Engadin as its location in which to launch its camp for children from the middle school (ages 11 to 14 years old) from Monday, July 13th to Fri-day, July 24th 2015!

Active English was founded by its Chicago born director who, after gradu-ating with a BA in English followed by years of teaching both children and adults in Italy, understood the need for those studying English to have the op-portunity to use it. She also wanted to provide a place where children of na-tive English speakers or those attending international schools could spend part of their summers without necessar-ily having to travel to the US or Great Britain. Rather than offering a study programme, she was convinced that the best way to learn was to have fun with English which is exactly what Active English Camps provide: Fun! Active English has earned a reputa-tion as a family style camp with qual-ity staff from top ranked universities in Great Britain and the U.S. Days are spent doing sports and team building activities in English so as to allow camp-ers the opportunity to use English. The camps attract participants at all levels of English including those attending international schools. Activities in En-

gadin include walks, swimming, bik-ing, beach volleyball, football, foosball, ping-pong, public speaking, debate activities, writing (journals, plays, cre-ative writing), films in English and much more. The participants will stay in a fam-ily run youth hostel in dormitory rooms with other camp participants and at least one staff member. All meals will be prepared by the hostel and can meet most dietary requirements and there will be designated areas for the camp activities. Active English has chosen Engadin, Switzerland as its location because it of-fers a safe, structured and pristine envi-ronment where children from Switzer-land and other countries can, through English, get to know the others on the programme and enjoy the surrounding area and all that Engadin and the Ac-tive English programme have to offer.

Founded in 1972 by two expats origi-nally from the United States, Village Camps is in its 44th summer of Educa-tion through Recreation and contin-ues to operate as a family-run business with a personalised approach. Based in the gorgeous, child-friendly moun-tain village of Leysin in Switzerland, as well as at other wonderful locations in England, France, Austria, Cyprus, Sin-gapore, and the USA, Village Camps of-fers top quality international summer camps for children and teenagers (7-18 years old) from the world over. A variety of specialty programmes is available at each site focusing on languages (Eng-lish, French, German), sports, outdoor adventure, the arts, and leadership-training; with more than 25 different options every camper is sure to find the perfect programme! For families living in the Geneva area, a Day Camp is also available welcoming 4–14 year olds at the College de Terre Sainte in Coppet. Carefully-selected, well-trained, and highly enthusiastic staff members are certainly a major strength for Village Camps. They are the driving force be-hind the success of every camp. Their role in supervising, caring, and guiding the kids cannot be overstated. This is why an enviable ratio of one counsellor

for every six campers is maintained at all our sites. Apart from the obvious benefits of improving various skills and discover-ing new interests, summer camps do a world of good for the character develop-ment process of a child. Through par-ticipation in exciting activities, team challenges, competitions, excursions, and much more, campers develop self-confidence, a sense of independence, as well as a larger understanding of differ-ent cultures. Village Camps is proud to

create the ideal environment in which campers can learn, create memories, and forge new friendships that, in many cases, last a lifetime. Summer is just around the corner and Village Camps looks forward to welcoming children to any of its eight exciting locations!

Sylvie Ducas was six years old when she first came from Paris to attend camp at Pré Fleuri, an international board-ing school in the Swiss Alps. She was so happy at Pré Fluri that when she grew up, she bought it! Today, as owner and director, Du-cas tells parents of potential students: “When your child first arrives at Pré Fleuri what we see is pure potential — rough-hewn, pure potential. Our task is to turn this into a reality.” The school —whose name means “field of flowers”— is located in a chalet on two hectares of land, surrounded by woods and farmland. Founded in 1948,

it serves 70 students from 3 to 12 years of age. “We are not just about chocolate, cheese and cuckoo clocks!” says Ducas. “We offer a uniquely safe and stable environment, politically, socially and physically.” Pré Fleuri offers an international ex-perience, and children are encouraged to share their culture and traditions with their classmates. There is a focus on language learning, and students be-come fluent in both English and French, often in addition to a third language —such as Russian, Chinese, Japanese, or Spanish— which is their mother tongue.

The school’s academic programme follows official English and French cur-ricula. Sports, cultural, and other extra-curricula activities add to the experi-ence of living in Switzerland. In addition to being a boarding school, Pré Fleuri organises camps on a weekly basis during winter and sum-mer holidays. The summer programme can be booked for up to seven weeks and serves children from the ages of 3 to 13. For children six and older, five morn-ings per week are spent in French or English classes. Afternoons are devoted to fun, with a wide range of activities, ranging from archery and banana boat rides to treetop trails to excursions to a sleepover in a cabin in the woods. Spe-cial one-week offerings include radio-controlled model cars, modern dance, sculpture and ceramics, video clip edit-ing, chocolate-making and water sports on Lake Geneva. Like Sylvie Ducas, who came back to Pré Fleuri year after year, today’s stu-dents and campers are “always welcome to come back and share with us their ad-ventures, as so many of them do!”

While children are being cared for, adults may want to reinforce their French, by attending one of the best adult French language and culture programmes available in Switzer-land, since 1891, the French Summer Courses (Cours d’Eté) of the University of Geneva. This programme offers French lan-guage courses throughout the summer, in a unique learning environment. Lo-cated in the historical heart of the city of Geneva, the French Summer Courses provide an exciting set of 3, 6 or 9 weeks intensive course to students from all over the world and of all levels. Given by highly-qualified teachers, the courses combine language classes, with a wide variety of interesting cultural excur-sions and conferences. The programme

offers three types of training: all lev-els, one to three three-week sessions, with mornings spent studying French in small groups suited to each partici-pant’s level and afternoons dedicated to coursework that appeals to students’ individual interests: grammar, reading skills, civilization, songs, pronuncia-tion, etc. A more in-depth nine-week session of intensive French for beginners is also offered. And finally, for those planning to study at the University of Geneva or another French speaking university, the six-week University Preparatory course is ideal.
