    Students of the (nder 5raduate Programs and Integrated + Program are re)uired to

    underta#e eight 6ee# Summer Internship Program during summer semester at the end of

    7ear I and 7ear II. 8he Summer Internship Program helps the students learn the

    application of the concepts learnt in the classroom and helps them e9pand their

    #no6ledge base. Students are e9pected to involve themselves totall! in the projectassigned to them and ma#e the project 6or# a platform for meaningful learning. Students

    6ill be guided b! $acult! 5uides in successful completion of the Summer Internship

    Program.

    2.0 "B%&$I'&S "( SUMM&! IN&!NS)IP P!"G!AM

    8he objectives of the Summer Internship Program are varied:

    a. It helps the student to get e9posure to corporate culture

    b. 8o provide an opportunit! to appl! the concepts learnt in the classroom and gain

    command over application of #no6ledge

    c. 8o improve interpersonal s#ills; professional eti)uette and professional s#ills

    d. 8o e)uip the students 6ith tas# orientation and e9pose them to organi b= on the job e9ecutive training in a compan! involving sellingmar#eting various

    products c= research project based on the stud! conducted through primar! and secondar!

    research and d= a librar! lab project assigned b! the $acult! 5uide in consultation 6ith

    the Internship -oordinator.

    8he Summer Internship Program helps the student learn to underta#e structured project

    assignments 6ithin specified timelines. + good Summer Internship Program underta#en

    6ith all the seriousness provides an e9cellent learning opportunit! to the students.

    Summer Internship Program can be broadl! be classified into three phases vi

    *.* Sumission o (inal Project !eportStudents are re)uired to submit the final project report as stipulated in the calendar. 8hereport should be of appro9imatel! &0@'0 pages and presented 6ell. 8he guidelines for

    6riting a project report are given in Annexure I.86o copies of the report should besubmitted to the $acult! 5uide for further processing.

    .0 !&GIS!AI"N+ll the Students participating in Summer Internship Programs should register themselves

    at their campus as per the due dates specified in the calendar. ela!ed registrations are

    not permitted. 49ceptions; if an!; 6ill be subject to approval b! the Aead of the %egion;

    for 6hich a 6ritten re)uest should be sent through Internship -oordinator.Aead of the

    %egion shall accept such late registration onl! if it is genuine; and after informing the

    Aead@ +cademic "ing. Late registration is not a matter of right, and such a provision

    is made onl to ta!e care of e"ceptional and genuine cases.

    Students should fill the BStudent %egistration $orm cum code of conduct #Annexure-II);

    sign and submit it to the respective Internship -oordinator before the due date specified in

    the calendar.

    3.0 UNI4U& "PP"!UNI5

    Summer Internship Program is a uni)ue opportunit! to the Student to get e9posed to the

    corporate culture; professional e9perience and implementing the theoretical concepts

    learnt in the classroom in developing managerial and technical s#ills along 6ith other

    s#ills. 8he endeavor of the Student Intern during this period is to optimi

    7.0 PU!SUING SUMM&! IN&!NS)IP P!"G!AM A ")&! I$(AI

    Uni8ersit- $AMPUS

    +ll Students are e9pected to pursue their Summer Internship Programs at their I-$+I

    (niversit! eghala!a -ampus. Gormall!; a student is not permitted to underta#e

    Summer Internship Program at other locations than their I-$+I (niversit! eghala!a

    -ampus. Ao6ever; in e9ceptional circumstances; a Student ma! be permitted to pursue

    Summer Internship Program at other locations. In such cases; the follo6ing conditions

    appl!:

    10.0 SUMM&! IN&!NS)IP P!"G!AM &'A+UAI"N

    8he Summer Internship Program carries a 6eightage of ' credits and therefore evaluation

    of the Summer Internship Program is critical to Student Interns overall performance. 8he

    follo6ing components shall be considered 6hile evaluating the student interns:

    4valuation schedule as prescribed in these guidelines shall be strictl!

    implemented. Go sta#eholder shall e9tend evaluation schedule.

    Gon@submission of an! reports or not attending the presentation should be

    treated as B+bsence for the evaluation component 6hich 6ill lead to BGot

    -leared grade.

    +n! report or presentation submitted b! a student is not evaluated b! the

    concerned evaluators it 6ill be treated as BIncomplete. In such a case the

    evaluator must e9plain reason for not completing the evaluation component.

    BHero mar#s shall not be a6arded for non@submission of reports or for not

    ma#ing a presentation. BHero mar#s should be a6arded onl! if the reports

    submitted or presentations made are so poor and that the intern deserves B

    comple9ities of the project; methodolog! proposed ?optional=; 6ell@planned schedule

    of activities; abilit! to overcome the constraints during the project 6or#.

    i. $or (ndergraduates in anagement Programs and Integrated + Programs

    specific parameters regarding application of managerial tools and techni)ues to

    project 6or#; thorough research for information; 6ell thought@out model for

    data collection and anal!sis; findings and conclusions of the 6or# done etc. arealso included as part of the evaluation.

    ii. $or (ndergraduates in Science Programs; the project 6or# 6ill be evaluated

    based on the understanding of the e9isting s!stem; suggested changes

    modifications identification of soft6are modules re)uired to be developed;

    ata flo6 anal!sis; etc. 8he information on t!pes of projects for -omputer

    Science that can be underta#en is provided asAnnexure IX.

    b. 8he evaluation 6ill be carried out b! the $acult! 5uide along 6ith the Internship

    -oordinator.

    8he $acult! 5uide should brief the students about these parameters and evaluation

    process 6ithin one 6ee# of commencement of the Summer Internship Program.
