Fill a few water bottles halfway and lay them horizontally in the freezer. When you’re ready to go, take a bottle out of the freezer and fill it the rest of the way with water. The ice block on the side of the bottle will chill your water without blocking the opening!

Do ants invite themselves to all your backyard parties? Try this: put popcorn kernels in the blender until they’re ground up, creating homemade cornmeal. Sprinkle this anywhere you notice ant trails or colonies and they’ll slowly disappear.

Speaking of pests, summer is a big time for fruit flies, and there’s nothing worse than having them in your kitchen. To get rid of them, put something sweet in a cup – like some sweet wine, or a few pieces of fruit – then cover the cup with saran wrap and poke holes in it. They’ll go in for the treats, but they can’t get out.

Mosquito bites are terribly itchy, but you don’t want to scratch at them until they bleed. To stop the itch, dab it with a cotton ball soaked in vinegar. Sweet relief!

Vinegar has more soothing powers than you might think! If you’re out of aloe, freeze it into ice cubes and rub them on your burnt skin for relief in a pinch.
