Additional Program Features

While participating in challenging workshops and lessons focused on American history and literature, students will improve their reading level, develop a cultural schema, and learn writing strategies that are necessary for success in high school.

While these skills are important, we recognize that not all learning is done in the classroom; this is especially true for international students. For this reason, SLLA students will also be required to participate in a variety of cultural activities outside of the classroom, including:

Living with an American family from our highly-regarded homestay program to experience traditional values in a family-oriented atmosphere;

Visiting cultural and historical locations in Delaware and the surrounding region (e.g.,: New York City, Washington DC, Delaware beaches, Philadelphia); and

Participating in service, cultural, and athletic activities with international students from countries around the world.
