A message from our President, Joan LaSalle Short and to the point – as we all begin returning to what has been referred to as our new normal, “let us not forget to be kind”. These words from our collect can act as a simple reminder that no matter what the situation, how tense, anxious or worried we are, do things with kindness.
Collect, by Mary Stewart
Keep us O God from pettiness; let us be Large in thought, in word, in deed. Let us Be done with fault-finding and leave off
Self-seeking.
May we put away all pretense and meet Each other face to face without self-pity, And without prejudice. May we never be? Hasty in judgement and always generous.
Let us take time for all things; make us
Grow calm, serene, gentle. Teach us to put Into action our better impulses, straight
forward and unafraid.
Grant that we may realize it is the little Things that create differences, that in the
Big things of life we are at one.
And may we strive to touch and to know The great, common human heart of us all,
And O, Lord God, let us forget not to be kind.
Looking forward to seeing everyone again soon. Love,
Joan

meeting. This year we are retaining all our current officers: President, Joan LaSalle;
Vice President, Katie Fink; Recording Secretary, Melinda Feaster; Treasurer, Faith
Zembower; Co-Treasurer, Karen Everhart; and Corresponding Secretary, Nancy Mellott.
Parliamentarian is Laura Whetstone. If you are interested in serving as an officer and
have questions on what the duties are, you can find that information in the BPW By
laws. You can request a copy of Bedford By laws by email to [email protected] or
check out the sate Bylaws at BPW PA member section, By laws.
Scholarship Update
Scholarship winners are invited to join us at our regular meeting for our meal and to be
presented with their awards. Rita Bush, Scholarship Committee chairperson sent letters
thanking all applicants and notifying winners. The amount of scholarships was reduced
due to not holding our spring fundraiser, which was explained in the letter. This year we
awarded three scholarships in the amount of $1000 each. There were 24 applications
for high school graduates and no non-traditional applicants
This year’s scholarship winners represent three county schools. They are Allyson M.
Ritchey from NBC High School, Hannah M. Lafferty from Bedford High School, and
McKenzi V. Nesbitt from Everett High School. Rita requested bios and photos of the
winners to place in the Bedford Gazette. Thank you to the committee, and to all
members who work to support this worthy cause.
Fund Raisers
Until we get a decision on Fall Foliage, we are moving forward with the plan to sell gobs
as usual with the same baker as last year. From the member input, Bingo is still the
favored fundraiser. We are planning to monitor how other Bingo’s work and if they are
successful, we will book a venue (inside or outside) for a Bingo. There may be
modifications to accommodate the change in date and number of attendees (day of
week, prizes, etc).
