Short for “magazine,” a zine is loosely defined as an independently produced and self-pub-lished underground publication. A zine can be a messy hodgepodge of personal thoughts (a “perzine”), a series of stories written by you about characters in your favor-ite book, movie, or video game (a “fan-zine”), a serial comic strip, a “how-to” guide on a subject of your choice --any-thing you want! In this camp you will learn all of the skills and techniques need-ed to write, design, layout, and produce your own zines using both the old fashioned methods of scissors, tape, and photocopier, as well as digital new media methods to create and distribute “webzines.” By the end of the camp, students will have created their very own zines to trade with other zinesters and to give to friends and family.
