Summer Bucket ListAfter a great deal of anticipation, summer is finally here! It’s time to kick back, relax and put on
our adventure pants! Let’s not spend this season the way we have many others - stuck at home
on the couch. It’s time to plan new activities for the upcoming weeks, so we can remember
summer 2016 as some of the best times of our lives! The Market Me team has come up with a
summer bucket list of our own to ensure that we spend our days exploring and seeking
adventures everywhere we go. Check it out:
1. Go swimming in the Blue Hole Mineral Spring
Just about 30 minutes from Negril lies the hidden gem that is the Blue Hole Mineral Spring.
Located in Westmoreland, Blue Hole Mineral Spring opens at 9:00 am every day. Aside from
the mineral spring and swimming pool, there is a bar/grill, cabana, and volleyball court on the
property, all for its guests’ enjoyment.
2. Visit Trident Hotel in Port Antonio
If you are seeking an evening of elegance and luxury, there’s no better place to go than the
Trident Hotel in Port Antonio. Trident is known to be a picture of paradise, with its waterfront
villas that sit on private terraces and that are complemented by various soaking pools. Even if
you do not stay, you must at least stop by and experience the contemporary excellence of the
hotel.
3. Have a drink at the Pelican Bar in St. Elizabeth
How many people can say they’ve been to a bar that sits not on, but in the ocean? Built on a
sand bank, the Pelican Bar in St. Elizabeth is a rustic wooden bar about a quarter mile out at
sea. The Pelican Bar is located halfway between Black River and Treasure Beach. This is a
perfect destination to escape to this summer!
4. Go zip-lining with Chukka Tours
For all the adrenaline junkies, there’s a lot more to do right here at home than you would think!
Island tours aren’t just for tourists. Chukka Tours offers a wide range of activities such as ATV
riding, horseback riding and zip-lining. You can fly through the forest with the zip line canopy
tour that starts in the heart of the jungle. The tour even goes over river canyons and across
mountains. This is certainly an activity for all you adventurers!
5. Stand under Reggae Falls in St. Thomas
You haven’t experienced true, natural beauty until you’ve stood under the Reggae Falls in St.
Thomas. You can hear the cascading falls before you arrive, and once you do, the view is
breathtaking. Reggae Falls is a great destination for a private escape this summer, so pack a
swimsuit, towel and some sunblock! It’s time to head to St. Thomas.
6. Eat pork at the Lambs River in Westmoreland
Recently, The Lambs River in Westmoreland has been the talk of the town. What’s raved about
even more is the pork that's served at the river. Once food is involved, the journey to the
destination will always be worth it!
7. Take a boat to Lime Cay
Going to lime cay may be a weekly routine for some, but for others, it is considered quite the
escapade! There’s nothing like spending a Sunday on this beach, basking in the sun with a cold
beer in hand. Going to lime cay is easy - you simply jump on a canoe from Morgan’s Harbour
and within 20 minutes, you’re on an island paradise in the middle of the ocean. What more of an
adventure could you ask for?
8. Jump off a cliff at Rick’s Café in Negril
Number 8 on our bucket list is certainly not for the faint-hearted! Rick’s Café in Negril is one of
Jamaica’s top tourist attractions, but many of us, locals, have never been (nor have we been
brave enough to jump). Well, the time has come to check this activity off our bucket list! Let’s
pack some courage with our swimsuits and flip flops for this one.
9. Eat a meal at Blue Ridge Restaurant and Cottages
Located in Salt Hill, St. Andrew, Blue Ridge Restaurant and Cottages offers a surreal view of the
Blue Mountains. The entire menu at Blue Ridge makes our mouths water, which is why we have
to check this activity off our bucket list! From the popcorn shrimp to the Jamaican quesadilla,
Blue Ridge never disappoints. Like we said earlier, once food is involved, the trip is always
worth it!
10. Visit the Jamaica Zoo in St. Elizabeth
