The City of Tigard offers more than 540 acres of parks, greenways and natural areas. Our parks system ranges from ballfields to ecosystem reserves to neighborhood spaces. The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board (PRAB) has the responsibility to advise the public works director and city council regarding park and recreation policies, budget, facilities, programs and other needs of the community to provide quality park and recreation services. These spaces offer residents of all ages and abilities recreation opportunities, from walking to team sports. Best of all, they let residents and visitors connect with each other and their neighbors.

Our Mission:Providing healthy and diverse recreational opportunities through programs, events, parks, and natural areas, for all ages and abilities, ensuring that the City of Tigard is a desirable place to live and play.

We strive to be inclusive to all. If you or someone you know needs special assistance for any Tigard Parks & Rec activity or program, please let us know! If you have any ideas or tips to help us be more inclusive, please tell us!

CITY OF TIGARD | PARKS & RECREATION

A NOTE ON COVID-19

To the Tigard community:

We’re here for you — to keep you safe, to keep you healthy, and to keep you active. For months, we’ve been scheduling a summer full of classes, camps and events. We recognize the uncertainty that the COVID-19 pandemic brings to hosting public events. We will follow the advice of the county and state officials in deciding whether our summer programming can take place in a safe and healthy environment.

As we navigate this unprecedented time, I want you to know that:

OUR WORK CONTINUES. We are still operating and providing the resources you need. The work may look and feel different, but the dedication of our workforce is the same. We are here to serve and are doing just that. Please let us know how we can help.

WE ARE LISTENING AND LEARNING EACH DAY. We are often asked, “When are we going back to normal?” The simple answer is we are not. As we navigate this crisis, we are also viewing this as an opportunity. An opportunity to create our “new” normal. To build a comprehensive and responsive system that supports all our community. To tear down barriers and strengthen access.

THINGS WILL GET BETTER. We may not know when, but we know how. Physical distancing (aka social distancing) should be maintained. Wear a face mask when going outside. Monitor your temperature regularly. Stay connected, engaged and please stay safe.

Our Recreation staff is excited to be a part of your summer whether in-person or online. For the latest information on our classes, camps and events, visit www.tigard-or.gov/recreation. Things are changing daily so please check back regularly to stay informed. We’re also happy to connect via email ([email protected]) or on the phone (503-718-2605).

We look forward to seeing you soon.

Marty Wine City Manager, City of Tigard
