The Summer Seminar at the United States

Air Force Academy offers a unique

opportunity for students to experience

Academy life first-hand. Specially designed

for high school juniors heading into their

senior year, Summer Seminar allows

participants to step in the shoes of a cadet

and learn what it’s like to pursue education

at the US Air Force Academy as well as a

career with the US Air Force.

Joining the Civil Air Patrol

Almost any American citizen who passes an FBI

background check can join the Civil Air Patrol. It's a

great way to give back to the community and serve

our country.

Teens age 12-18 can join as Cadets, and persons

over 18 serve as Senior Members. You do not need

to be a pilot, and no flight experience is necessary.

There are many ways to serve including positions in

flight training, finance, administration, public

affairs, chaplain, aerospace education, cadet

programs, professional development, safety and

logistics & operations.

Students achieve success at the Colorado Springs Conservatory in several ways above

and beyond their everyday lessons. Through a combination of rigorous classroom

instruction, performance experience, and collaboration, students gain an understanding

of their own creative essence, build self-confidence, and discover that no matter how

great or small the triumphs and 'failures' that we are all on a journey, and that process is

where most of our learning takes place.

specifically designed for middle school students.

Earn high school credit while having

fun learning about Digital

Photography! You’ll use computers

and state-of-the-art software to

plan and produce photographic

compositions that demonstrate an

understanding of light, composition,

color, and visual impact. This course is taught by D20 instructor Leah Rachlis and will be

offered during the July summer school session.

Library 21c hosts classes for

filmmakers, including classes on how

to edit films, how to use lighting

effectively, how to mix audio, and

how to use their film studio. There is

even a Peak Film Forum, which

enables youth to connect with and

learn from filmmakers, actors, writers, and other production crew members. Classes are

free (you only need a library card!), and they run at varying times to fit almost any

schedule!

The Penrose Teen Volunteer Program is for teens between the ages of 14 and 17. Many volunteer because they want to explore healthcare careers, fulfill high school community service hours, accumulate volunteer hours for college applications, and to make a positive impact in the community. Volunteers serve four hours once per week in a position of their choosing.

Experience a “real-world” look at specific healthcare and medical career fields in Memorial Hospital’s Junior Medical School. Students will learn from engaging topics and hands-on activities. This program is open to students ages 16-18 at the time of application who also have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Sessions are available each month of the summer.

If you are a rising high-school junior

or senior in Fall 2017, we invite you

to apply to earn college credit in our

pre-college summer program.

On the block plan, you will take one class at a time - immersing yourself and focusing on

one subject with a singular intensity. A regular block class powers through a full

semester's worth of content in 3.5 weeks, for 4 semester hours of college credit. If you

apply for a regular block course, you’ll study alongside Colorado College undergraduates.

The Stanford Pre-Collegiate Summer Institutes are three-week

and four-week residential programs for academically talented

and motivated high school students. The Summer Institutes pro-

vide an opportunity for these students to enrich and

accelerate their academic pursuits and to meet other students

who share their interests and abilities.

Pikes Peak Community College is

offering Teen College courses to

middle school students. Each class is a

total of 20 hours and runs for one

week. Topics range from Zoo Keeping to Mad Science and Outdoor Adventuring to

Robotics. There really is something for everyone!

Oxbridge Academic Programs has welcomed intellectually

adventurous high school and junior high school students to

Summer Study Programs in Europe and the US for over 30

years. Students from over 80 countries are learn in great and

historic centers including Oxford and Cambridge in England, St. Andrews in Scotland,

Barcelona and Salamanca in Spain, Paris and Montpellier in France, and New York City

and Los Angeles while exploring new cultural surroundings.

12th grade in the fall of 2016, provide exposure to real-

world problem solving in a team environment and provide

The University of Denver offers several week-long engineering and computer science day camps for students in grades 9 – 11. Topics and dates include the following:

Women’s Engineering: July 24-28

In this program, students will be on the beautiful University of Denver campus with adult supervision, hands on learning, and the opportunity to explore the development of future technologies.

Science Discovery offers immersive summer research

experiences for high school students. Students will have the

chance to conduct their own research and collaborate with CU

Boulder faculty and graduate students, while working in a STEM

research lab.

UCCS is accepting applications for the 4th

annual Summer STEM Academy, sponsored by

Northrup Grumman. Students accepted into

this academy choose to engage in one of three

areas: robotics, rocketry, and cyber security. This program is designed to reach high

caliber students at a critical juncture in their academic careers as they begin to plan for

college.

Code, game, and create this summer! The iD Tech camps are

held on college campuses throughout the United States. This

summer, 60+ courses in coding, game design and development,

robotics and engineering, and 3D modeling and printing will be

offered at University of Denver, CU Boulder, CSU—Fort Collins, and the Mile High

Academy in Highlands Ranch.

Volunteers are at the heart of making the

Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region

(HSPPR) compassionate and caring. Their

efforts and dedication help us accomplish

our important mission: A compassionate society where animals are cared for and valued.

As a private, non-profit organization, we rely on the assistance of our caring, dedicated

and hard-working volunteers. HSPPR asks a six-month commitment from its volunteers,

but many volunteers have been a part of the HSPPR for years. Our volunteers enjoy

Academy District 20 is looking for students in

grades 8-12 to help in middle and high school

summer school classrooms. Volunteers will

work under the guidance of an Academy D20

teacher. A variety of locations and times are

available!

The Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum Junior Docents program

is open to students entering grades 6-12. Volunteers in this

program are trained to become young educators and guides for

visitors to the museum during the summer months. Junior

Docents volunteer for one or two shifts per week from June 8 -

July 23.
