Be sure to come meet the 2017 Cohort at a Meet and Greet Reception in AGLS 209 from 4:00 pm—5:00 pm on Friday, August 25, 2017. Mandi Guo shared that, “In the Conference, we met professionals from the academic community and glob- al agricultural industries. We also had a chance to get acquainted with talent- ed students around the world. Moreover, various popular issues have been discussed including global food security, agribusi- ness sustainability, indus- try consolidation, over- views of future agricultural market in China and Afri- ca, etc. In conclusion, it is an extraordinary opportunity for us to understand the current market circumstances, absorb different per- spectives, and build our professional network. “ Kyle Joseph comment- ed, “The most interest- ing talk that I listened to was on Tuesday of the conference. The presentation was titled “FDA Action to curb Antimicrobial Re- sistance: Animal Agri- culture Food Supply Chain Impacts.” The panel was composed of George Hoffman: CEO of RSI Inc., Joe Swedberg: Hormel Foods and Farm Foundation, Ja- mie Lehman: Director of The Maschoff’s, and Louis Russell: CEO of APC. They discussed the future of GMO foods and how the food supply chain will be impact- ed. I feel very grateful that I was able to at- tend the conference as a student of Texas A&M Uni- versity. I hope to attend the IFAMA conference again in the future.” Pictured leŌ to right: Yuvaraj Sudhakar, Priyamvadha Sivakumar, Mandi Guo, and Edeoba Edobor (Kyle Joseph, not pictured) Eric Naminse, MAB ‘08, with Dr. Salin MABs Compete at IFAMA By: Mandi Guo, Edeoba Ebodor, and Kyle Joseph MAB students, Edeoba Edobor, Mandi Guo, Kyle Jo- seph, Yuvaraj Sudhakar, and Priya Sivakumar, attend- ed the International Food and Agribusiness Manage- ment Association meeting in Miami, Florida in June. Students competed in a case study competition, at- tended conference sessions, and networked with in- dustry professionals and academics from across the globe. Former MAB student, Eric Naminse, Ph.D., now a pro- fessor in China, also connected with current MAB stu- dents during the conference. Dr. Salin, Director of the MAB program, was awarded the 2017 IFAMA Fellow Award during the conference. Congratulations, Dr. Salin! Edeoba Edobor stated, “I was also able to learn a lot especially about current issues shaping global agricul- ture and agribusiness. I really appreciated the pletho- ra of issues and the very rich perspectives that the speaker brought into the panel sessions. If there was something that was consistently clear in all the ses- sions, it was that the future of agriculture and the glob- al food system would need the most innovative think- ing by all those involved. In that regard, the conference was quite challenging, especially the session on Africa. In years to come, I can look back at how this confer- ence helped shape my career trajectory as well as my perspective as an agribusiness professional.” MABs with undergraduate students from Nanjing Agricultural University, China
