I find myself complaining that if only I could get more organized then I might not need more room. Thinking about our stuff, our prized possessions, our items we collect, and the items that we no longer have: how did you decide what was important and what was something to discard? One thing to help you find the answer to this queson is to find your focus, a center that your world and acons revolve around. Is it Family? Religion? Fitness/health? What is your main focus of everyday living? When I first asked myself this queson I had many important areas of interest that I needed to assess. It may take some me for you to begin to priorize what really maers and begin to see how your stuff, precious belongings, and cherished items fit into the big picture. For me, I put family at the center and if the item does not help me, family, or a loved one succeed or perform their daily dues beer then it had a secondary role and was easier to discard. This process allows the important items in your life to get all of your focus and aenon. You may be asking why, why is this important now, or ever? Too many people I know are faced with this repriorizaon of their life and their belongings because of a loved one’s illness, personal illness, or loss of a loved one. When it becomes a necessity to minimize in order to maximize another part of your life (example: health) then it will be more difficult. Take me today to begin and start small. If discarding items is too difficult right now, then maybe add something that begins to make the items less important. Add me with your family doing something together: take a walk, play a game, start to eat family meals together, begin to prepare and shop for family meals together. Take acon and make being with your loved ones more important than the things in your life. One last thought to leave you with: A friend went on a fabulous vacaon with her family and was telling me about all the acvies they did from snorkeling to riding bikes on the beach to just lazing in the sun. I of course asked to see pictures and she took out her phone and showed me one; one photo of her family all linked in arms and smiling. She said she took the only photo that maered the rest were great memories. SUMMER 2017

Making More Room

I always need more room. I find myself complaining that if only I could get more organized then I might not need more room. Thinking about our stuff, our prized possessions, our items we collect, and the items that we no longer have: how did you decide what was important and what was something to discard? One thing to help you find the answer to this question is to find your focus, a center that your world and actions revolve around. Is it Family? Religion? Fitness/health? What is your main focus of everyday living? When I first asked myself this question I had many important areas of interest that I needed to assess. It may take some time for you to begin to prioritize what really matters and begin to see how your stuff, precious belongings, and cherished items fit into the big picture. For me, I put family at the center and if the item does not help me, family, or a loved one succeed or perform their daily duties better then it had a secondary role and was easier to discard. This process allows the important items in your life to get all of your focus and attention.

You may be asking why, why is this important now, or ever? Too many people I know are faced with this reprioritization of their life and their belongings because of a loved one’s illness, personal illness, or loss of a loved one. When it becomes a necessity to minimize in order to maximize another part of your life (example: health) then it will be more difficult. Take time today to begin and start small. If discarding items is too difficult right now, then maybe add something that begins to make the items less important. Add time with your family doing something together: take a walk, play a game, start to eat family meals together, begin to prepare and shop for family meals together. Take action and make being with your loved ones more important than the things in your life.

One last thought to leave you with: A friend went on a fabulous vacation with her family and was telling me about all the activities they did from snorkeling to riding bikes on the beach to just lazing in the sun. I of course asked to see pictures and she took out her phone and showed me one; one photo of her family all linked in arms and smiling.
