CRUISING THROUGH FRANCE

BouTique RiveR CRuise ColleCTion cruises – are truly all-inclusive. Gratuities, scheduled airport transfers, unlimited beverages onboard, all meals in every venue onboard, Internet and Wi-Fi access, shore excursions hosted by English-speaking local experts, use of bicycles and Nordic walking sticks onshore – all at no additional charge. Call Brentwood Travel for more details!

Few regions in Europe are as scenic and charming as the heart of France, and a river

cruise is the best way to experience it. Follow the Rhône and Saone rivers as they wind through Burgundy and Provence. We suggest discovering this countryside that inspired the art of French masters such as Van Gogh, Cézanne and Gauguin on a uniwoRld BouTique RiveR CRuise voyage. Begin your journey in Avignon, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Palais des Papes (Palace of the Popes) is one of the largest and most important examples of Gothic architecture in Europe. During the 14th century, this fortress and palace was the seat of Western Christianity. Today, the Palais is one of the 10 most visited attractions in France with 650,000 visitors per year. You won’t want to miss the Pont du Gard, an ancient Roman aqueduct. It is the highest elevated Roman aqueduct and one of the best

preserved, becoming a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1985. From May to September, Uniworld offers guided kayak tours that go underneath the Pont du Gard. Next stop, Viviers! In this small walled city full of medieval character and charm you’ll explore the 12th-century Cathedral of St. Vincent, France’s smallest cathedral, with its display of Gobelins tapestries. In Tournon, cross over the suspension bridge to Tain l'Hermitage to taste Côtes du Rhône wines. Or, take a guided hike through the Hermitage vineyards and taste distinctive local wines. In Macon, learn about Burgundy’s celebrated wines at the Hospices de Beaune, where the monks have been making and selling wine to support their charitable work since the 15th century. Lyon has developed a reputation as a major center of French cuisine. Enjoy a guided tour of Les Halles, Lyon's world-famous food market, and check out an array of food stalls, bars and restaurants. During a tour of the Quartier Saint-Jean, you'll meet an artisan who specializes in silk weaving. This “Burgundy and Provence” journey – like all of the extraordinary uniwoRld

ships, they build incredible! This is especially true of the Oasis Class ships – Oasis of the Seas, Allure of the Seas, and coming soon, Harmony of the Seas. These ships all feature a unique neighborhood concept: Onboard each ship you’ll find seven neighborhoods, each with a different experience. The Boardwalk pays homage to the piers of yesteryear, and features shops, attractions, amusements, and even a full-sized, hand-carved carousel. For more dining, shopping and entertainment, head to the two-story open-air Royal Promenade. When it’s time to play, the Pool and sports Zone is a blast for the whole family. From Ping-Pong and mini golf, to the more thrilling dual rock walls and the twin Flow Riders, there are plenty of challenges for everyone. The youth Zone is a haven built specifically for kids and teens, and they all love meeting the DreamWorks Animation characters onboard.

Want something more laid back? Take a stroll through Central Park and enjoy the first living parks at sea. Or, visit the vitality at sea spa and Fitness Center and enjoy the workout equipment, fitness classes and spa services. At night, entertainment Place lights up with live shows, a casino, and more intimate venues. Starting in November, the “eat - drink - Play” promotion will offer a VIP experience to guests in a Neighborhood balcony onboard any Oasis class ship. Choose the balcony option that best suits your family. Park view balconies are nestled within the Central Park gardens, and feature exclusive amenities including a complimentary lunch for two at Giovanni’s Table (or Jamie’s Italian on the Harmony of the Seas), a bottle of red wine waiting upon your arrival, and private casino gaming lessons from an onboard expert. America's Great Land

Looking for a vacation that

highlights the awesome beauty and memorable experiences found in North America? We found it for you

on insigHT vaCaTions’ “Canadian Rockies and Pacific Coast” 14-day tour. This journey is filled with majestic landscapes, thrilling adventure and exciting city life…it has it all. Begin your journey in Vancouver, Canada. From a horse-drawn tour through Stanley Park to the steam-powered clock in Gastown, there’s plenty to see and do. Vancouver is a foodie’s delight! In Victoria, you’ll want to visit the world-renowned Butchart Gardens, a National Historic Site comprised of 55 acres of stunning floral displays. A sightseeing tour takes in the Parliament Buildings near the last remnants of Fort Victoria and Craigdarroch Castle. Then, travel by rail on an overnight journey to the world-renowned Canadian Rockies, waking up to stunning vistas whizzing by your window. You’ll be welcomed by forests, lakes, waterfalls, glaciers and mountains in Jasper National Park, where you’ll spend two days touring, hiking, boating and

taking lots and lots of photos. The Icefield Visitor Center offers a remarkable excursion onto the surface of the Athabasca Glacier, led by an expert driver-guide. Afterwards, why not warm up with a sumptuous afternoon tea at the famous Chateau Lake Louise? Then on to Banff, your home for two nights. Take a helicopter ride over the magnificent peaks of the Canadian Rockies or ride aboard the Banff Gondola. Crossing over the U.S. border into Glacier National Park, you’ll journey along the Going-to-the-Sun Road, a 50-mile engineering marvel. You’ll visit a silver mine in Idaho, and the wine country of Washington state on your way to spending two nights in Seattle, seeing the Space Needle, Pike Place Market and Pioneer Square, with plenty of time left for more sightseeing and shopping. To learn more about the insigHT Difference in North America and around the world, call Brentwood Travel today.

In Alaska, our 49th state, every day offers an unforgettable memory: a mother moose and

calf, glaciers and mountains, unique Alaska Native cultures, and Gold Rush days. You can sample all of this and more on an Alaska cruise or cruisetour next summer. Ketchikan, Alaska's "First City,” began as a native fishing camp. The name comes from a Tlingit phrase meaning "eagle with spread-out wings." The world-famous colorful totem poles at Totem Bight State Park each tell their own story about Native Alaskan culture. Visit the Alaska Rainforest Sanctuary to see a native master carver at work. Go for the gold in Skagway! This town was the gateway to the goldfields for all the people flocking to the Yukon with the hope of striking it rich. One of their main attractions today is Alaska’s state sport – dog sledding! Meet professional mushers and their canine friends, and even take a ride on a custom, wheeled dog cart pulled by a team of Alaskan huskies! Juneau, Alaska’s capital, is a picturesque town with a charming personality. Stroll its winding downtown streets, filled with coffee shops,

galleries and seafood restaurants. Among the most awesome sights in Alaska are massive glaciers 10 or more stories high. As a glacier “calves,” a chunk of ice splits off and crashes into the sea, sounding like thunder. This is always a highlight of any Alaska cruise. Along with the majestic scenery, Alaska’s abundance of

wildlife makes for an awesome experience. Eagles and seabirds soaring through the sky, salmon leaping from bays and rivers, maybe even a bear foraging on a rocky beach. For a truly immersive experience, expand your visit

with a land tour into Alaska’s best wilderness destinations…Denali National Park, Glacier Bay National Park or the Kenai Peninsula. Voted “Best Cruise Line in Alaska” in 2015, PRinCess CRuises offers a range of enriching cruise options to see the Great Land's glaciers, wildlife and national parks from the perspective of spectacular ships, exclusive rail service and Princess-owned wilderness lodges. Let the Alaska experts at Brentwood Travel plan your next vacation to one of the most awesome destinations in the United States.

No other body of water holds mystery and romance quite like the Mediterranean

Sea. Travel to the lands of emperors, pharaohs, gods and goddesses…discover what secrets they reveal. Did the lost city of Atlantis exist and, if so, where? Why didn’t the people of Pompeii flee long before the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius? What was life really like in the medieval castles dotting the coastline of France? A must-see historical sight is the partially buried city of Pompeii, Italy. Pompeii was destroyed and completely buried during a two-day catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in the year AD 79. For nearly 1,700 years, the city remained buried under several feet of ash and pumice, but today the ruins of Pompeii come alive as you explore the shops and homes literally frozen in time. Peek into mysteries of the past in Kotor, located on the coast of Montenegro.

A UNESCO World Heritage site, Kotor is steeped in tradition and history. The old walled city, built between the 12th and 14th centuries, is filled with medieval architecture. Kotor is home to a fascinating Maritime Museum, which explores local seafaring history. venice makes you believe in fairy tales. Cars are banned, so the only way to get around the 1,500-year-old city is by foot or by water. Venice is filled with palaces and art, fine shopping and excellent food. Relax in Piazza San Marco (St. Mark’s Square), visit the basilicas, drink a Bellini at Harry's Bar, wander the alleyways and bridges, and take a gondola ride on the Grand Canal. The very mention of Rome conjures images of history, mystery and beauty. St. Peter’s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel are at the top of the list, of course. Other landmarks not to miss include the Trevi Fountain, the Colosseum, and Aventine Hill with a grand view of the remains of the Imperial Palaces, and the Circus Maximus. Continued from Page 1 knew. We saw Zeppelin Field, the former Nazi parade grounds, and the Palace of Justice. We also opted for an unforgettable tour of the World War II Museum, a fascinating interactive experience using an audio guide that I highly recommend. A big part of traveling is wonderful food, and we had some great culinary experiences. Recommendations: historical Wurkstkuchl of Regensburg, the oldest sausage tavern of the world (bring back a jar of homemade sweet mustard); Figlmüller in Vienna, serving up the most delicious Frisbee-sized schnitzel you’ve ever seen or eaten (take a friend to share it with); Strudel House on the Pest side of Budapest, where you can watch them hand make mouth-watering savory and sweet strudels. Some of our finest meals were onboard our Viking ship. They featured regional cuisine that brought our destinations to life, a variety of menu selections at every meal and an extensive wine list. Desserts were artistic and delicious, and the service was always impeccable.

What’s it like on a Viking ship? Fabulous! Spacious and light, understated but elegant, indoor and outdoor dining, reminiscent of a small hotel. In our beautiful, roomy stateroom we enjoyed heated

floors, steam-free mirrors and large fluffy towels in the bathroom, European linens, plenty of storage space, and bottled water replenished daily. Consider booking a veranda…you’ll love it! The entire Viking crew was outstanding, getting to know us and our preferences right away. Viking’s shore excursions were first rate. We were taken to all of the most important historical sites either on walking tours or by spacious, comfortable Viking-owned buses. All of their guides are local English-speaking experts who brought us closer to the history and culture of our destinations. Brentwood Travel is THe place to go when considering a viking River Cruises journey on the danube or any other river in europe, Russia, China & Southeast Asia or Egypt. We do viking BesT!

A trip to the Galapagos Islands is like visiting the earth before there were people.

After exploring the Galapagos in 1859, Charles Darwin published his theory of evolution in the classic "On the Origin of Species." Take a look at the example of an amazing journey to the Galapagos. Let’s begin in Baltra, at the region's main airport. During World War II, Baltra served as a U.S. military base protecting the Panama Canal from enemy attack. Then head over to Daphne Island to see pelicans, blue footed boobies, sea lions and tropical birds. At Gardner Bay, while you’re swimming, snorkeling or relaxing on the long, white sand beach, keep an eye out for sea turtles, rays, and maybe even a white-tip reef shark! Check out the green-hued sand where you land on Floreana Island. Experienced snorkelers can go on a deep-water expedition at nearby

Champion Island. From there, head to Post Office Bay where from 1793 whalers and other fishermen could leave letters to be picked up by outbound ships. Feel free to throw your postcards and letters in there, as this early post office is still operational. Prehistoric Punta Moreno, located between two volcanoes, Sierra Negra and Cerro Azul, is covered in jet-black lava. Walk to the edge of the lava and look straight down into the crystal clear pools, where you can spy the occasional green sea turtle, white-tipped reef sharks and pufferfish. At Puerto Ayora, the main population center of the islands, visit the National Park Service tortoise breeding center and the Charles Darwin Research Station. Hop on the bus to the Highlands to observe giant tortoises in the wild…they are enchanting. This is a wonderful destination for anyone looking for something fascinating, unusual, adventurous, and relaxing. It’s great for a family experience. One of our favorite ways to explore the Galapagos is by ship aboard the Celebrity Xpedition, a 96-guest mega-yacht. Your all-inclusive price covers pre-/post-cruise hotel stays in Quito, cruise accommodations,

all meals and beverages, roundtrip flights Quito/Galapagos, all sightseeing excursions, transfers, snorkeling gear – in short, everything. soon Celebrity Cruises will have three ships in the galapagos, so call Brentwood Travel for all the details.
