Apart from feeling compelled to shout “Summer is here”
from the rooftops, we also felt compelled to shout about
our most meaningful highlights of 2013 and to take a brief
look at what’s in store for Staging Services in 2014.
2013 saw Staging Services celebrate its 25th
Anniversary. By adopting the philosophy that ‘you’re only
as good as your last job’ Staging Services has organically
grown into a leading facilitator to the live events industry
by providing creative staging solutions to event
organisers across the UK and Europe.
We would like to thank all of our team, clients, suppliers
and partners. You have all played a huge part in the
success of our business in 2013 and we look forward to
picking up the pace again in 2014.
From all the team at Staging Service we wish you a
fantastic and prosperous summer. But most important of
all, don’t forget that we’re here to support your most

Staging Services attending the Event Buyers Live event
in Marlow Jan 13. EBL was a rather unique networking
experience that allowed us to directly discuss campaign
requirements with a number of leading event organisers
from across the UK.
We look forward to working with all of those businesses
that we met during the two day networking extravaganza.

Staging Services puts a rise in the
Great British Bake Off’ - Dec 2013
Last year Staging Services played a big part in the BBC’s
Winter Good Food Show… constructing staging structures
for both the ‘Great British Bake off’ and the main Super
Theatre.

Staging Services were delighted
to provide and install – 40 LED
table centers, 400 chair covers,
stage, dance floor, snow
machines, five floor to ceiling
snow covered backdrops, sleigh,
snowman, snow laden fir trees
and frosted fences.
Not unusual for us but all had to
be achieved in under three hours!

November 2013 saw the return of Clothes
Show Live at the NEC. For the second year
running Staging Services has supported Image
Innovation’s production delivery of the show.
This year Staging Services provided over 300
2m x 1m Super Stage modules to create a 36m
wide main stage and a 20 m long catwalk.

Autumn Winter Review
We were recently tasked with providing a viewing platform to bridge
over Clipper's, 70ft long, Round the World Yacht. The Clipper Round
the World Yacht Race launched on 1st September last year, setting sail
from London. But in which famous square was the boat being displayed
before the race? The answer can be found on the new website.

Having worked with Oakley Hall Hotel for a number of
years, providing their annual themed Christmas
events, last Christmas the hotel opted for a ‘Party at
the Pyramids’ theme.
Leading up to the party nights we were busy creating
giant Egyptian prop’s, wall décor, entrance features,
table prop’s and lighting. This year’s well be creating a
‘traditional’ Christmas theme for their ‘Christmas
Unwrapped’ Part Nights… Can’t wait!

can have a go at traditional clay pigeon shooting as part
of the all year round team-building activities.

Themes &
Staging Services has been crafting client themes and props for over 20 years. Currently we stock over 20 individual themes, which are on the shelf and ready to roll out at a moment’s notice. The economic downturn resulted in may corporate event organisers cancelling their hospitality activity – those who didn’t fold corporate events completely focused more on strategic content delivery instead… kicking into touch the theming thrills that make delegates and guests really feel part of the event. A recent article in Stand Out Magazine suggested that 1920 Vintage themes may well be popular this year along with Brazilian Festival themes and corporate themes being based on the movie, The Wolf of Wall Street. We’ve not noticed a recent trend in individual themes as such, but what we have noticed is that over the last twelve months there has been a considerable increase in the demand of themes and props again. Not only that, but some of our customers have started dabbling at bespoke themes again - bypassing the shelves in the warehouse completely... Although budgets are still tight for most it does indicate that confidence in theming corporate events is making a comeback. We know that it is important for delegates and guests to be engaged by the message content of your event but for us it’s equally as important for them to feel part of it too – it’s about creating memorable experiences and capitalising on the potential to gain longer-lasting event recall. Adopting themes and introducing props is the perfect way to do this.

1. To make the most of theming budgets organisers should go
for the big entrance features – this will dramatically establish the chosen theme at the venue threshold. Theming entrances and corridors on the way into an event, is often known to be the most recalled memory of an event – a journey into the chosen theme.
2. There’s no need to theme every wall of a room - use star cloth to cover large areas of wall or unappealing corners, whilst focusing on smaller cameo areas or hotspots around the room to introduce a prop or two.
3. The biggest focus is on stage, naturally… but interesting and interactive table dressing allows delegates to have fun (we all remember having a good time, right?)… and clever table dress items or collateral will help your delegates to interact with one-another. Leave something on the table for them to put in their pockets to take home as a memento!
Our biggest tip for 2014 is that event organisers should seriously consider bringing back themes and props. But our top three tips are as follows…
Learning to cope on tight budgets – the Blitz themed grand entrance was a great way to get the point across.
