SUMMARY REPORT GALLERY OF THE PROJECT

«This report serves to indicate the thread of events that happened during the project in the different institutions visited within the month of June and August»

The Project Youth strive to be role models in fighting against

genocide ideology was the cross country journey which was

aiming to mobilize the youth from secondary schools to be

engaged in fighting against genocide ideology.

This project was implemented by Edified Generation Rwanda

in Partnership with a university club IMBONIZARWO and in

deep collaboration with Secondary schools, Districts, CNLG,

Anti Genocide Parliamentary forum, University of Rwanda,

Ministry of Youth and ICT, and other different institutions and

NGOs.

The project has been implemented in all provinces of Rwanda

but in selected Districts:

NGORORERO,MUHANGA,GATSIBO,GICUMBI,GASAB

O and NYARUGENGE.

Project Description

Basing on the project theme, the genocide ideology is a way

of thinking and reflecting on ethnic separations, which are

built on false beliefs in our society.

The ideology is one of fear within our country which can lead

to separations acts and hatred among people, as was witnessed

in 1994 genocide against Tutsi.

It is under this concern that Edified Generation Rwanda in

Partnership with Imbonizarwo started this project to interact

with youth in secondary schools to share views and sensitize

against such ideology.

Project Objectives

To build a partnership between university and secondary

students in participation of social development projects.

To prepare a better tomorrow in Rwanda without social

conflicts

To spearhead youth participation in government priorities

meant to create peace of mind amongst Rwandan.

To renew the project each other ,such that even the young-

est citizens share the experience once they get into secondary

schools.

Merits

Using the educational ideas acquired in the

project to sensitize others and also to create

developmental ideas

Getting a clear view of the history and roots

causes of the genocide and its effects.

Knowing in truth that we are Rwandans, No

need of think in ethnic lines.

Changing student’s mindset towards geno-

cide ideology

The Bottom line

This project is an opportunity for Edified

Generation Rwanda to corporate with youth

in general in finding collective solutions to

the problems that affect today’s youth.

In conclusion, since children are he most

vulnerable victims of the ideology. It’s

everybody’s responsibility to refute

genocide ideology whenever it arises

thus as university students, we take up a

step forward in a state priority of capac-

ity building for youth in peace building,

human rights and good governance in

creating a peaceful future for Rwanda.

Executive Summary

This project have had two phases; the first phase held in June 2016

where we have covered NGORORERO,(E.S. Nyange & E.V.A Ki-

vumu), MUHANGA, (G.S Shyogwe, St. Peter and TTC Muhanga,

GASABO, (G.S Kacyiru).

During the second phase held in August ;we have covered the dis-

tricts of GATSIBO (G.S. BIHINGA), GICUMBI (TTC de la salle) and

NYARUGENGE (Ecole St Andre).

How it all Happened (Summary by gallery):

Phase One Each session of campaign had these main parts:

Introduction

Speeches of the guest

Discussions

Questionnaires and awarding the best performers

The Edified Generation Team and Guests joined the community in

social work( UMUGANDA) .

At each phase we hosted different guests include : Current District

representative, CNLG, KASNEB, University of Rwanda, National

youth council, Rwanda Parliament, Ministry of youth and ICT, RDF

and others…

Note that this summary doesn't contains speeches of different guest

hosted.

Project Phases

As we were hosting an audience of youth, Entertain-

ment was one of the tools we used to stimulate them

in the campaign.

A traditional sketch was presented at each occasion

which showcased Rwanda before, during and after the

genocide, and its impact.

The play indicated briefly the

situation of Rwandans pre and

post-colonialism and how the co-

lonialists affected the social makeup

of the Rwandan community for

instance the separations propa-

ganda that later led to the geno-

cide.

The plays finalized with an important note passing on the message that we are all Rwandans and thus no need to think along ethnic lines which is the main point in our fight towards the genocide ideology.

Thus far, basing on what we saw and what we expected

from what was planned beforehand, this project can make

a very good change in reducing Ideology of Genocide

by working together with university and secondary stu-

dents, not only that but also other sectors like Providing

Reliable solutions in Macro Economic issues like Unem-

ployment,..

ENTERTAINMENT

In conclusion:

The Genocide ideology is a fear towards our country which can lead to separations acts and hatred

amongst people as was witnessed in the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi.

It’s every Rwandan’s responsibility that we refute genocide ideologies wherever they arise, with full

attention to the dangers of dichotomization, dehumanization, and denial of genocide crimes.

This project is thus an opportunity to edified Generation Rwanda to corporate with our youth in finding

collective solutions to the problems that affect Rwanda’s youth today in an effort to build a peaceful future for

our beloved motherland, Rwanda

During the second phase held in August ;we have covered the districts of GATSIBO (G.S. BIHINGA),

GICUMBI (TTC de la salle) and NYARUGENGE (Ecole St Andre).
