Transcript of Summary of Focus Group Findings
Summary of Focus Group findings:
- All enjoy indie music – it’s fun
- Read NME; Q; Rolling Stone music magazines
- Contain favourite bands
- Target audience like to find out more about artists personal lives – about them as a person; want to connect more to them “what makes them tick”
- Audience like to know about artists’ inspirations, backgrounds and influences
- Reviews are considered “subjective” but interesting to read and think of others opinions
- Timelines
- Layout of content page with numbers and pictures is appealing due to easy reading
- Target audience like the colour red but think that other colours should be interspersed also – though they do understand the significance of red
- Interested in knowing artists as normal people – not “manufactured” like the media tend to present them as
- Dark clothes
- Like indie bands because they are upfront with their opinions and represent themselves the way they want – “open and honest with audience”
- Females should not be sexually objectifies if no consent has been given – if they are comfortable with being sexually objectified than that is the way
they represent themselves as
- Sex sells
- An equal balance of music and artists goals and personality is appealing to target audience
