Summary of 23rd training course
Implemented Course Name: Basin Wide Irrigation Planning
1. Period: October08 12, 2012 (5 days)
2. Participants: 20
3. Purpose of training course
a. To acquire the basic knowledge and the appropriate data processing and
analysis methods of Overall Activities of Agricultural River Basin Management
and Development in TSC3
b. To acquire the basic knowledge and the appropriate data collection processing
and analysis methods for Water balance calculation
c. To acquire the basic knowledge of a new approach for a basin wide irrigation
4. Scene of training course
5. Summary evaluation of training course
This training course was conducted only by TSC counterparts (without a
short-term expert) and was completed successfully.
The participants have little experience in water balance analysis; however,
through the training course they obtained the knowledge on data collection
and water balance calculation.
The training course program was consisted of lectures only, and exercise was
not included. However, it should be included because exercise using Excel or
GIS software is good way to check their understanding.

Summary of 24th training course
Implemented Course Name: Discharge Measurement
1. Period: October 22-26, 2012 (05 days)
2. Participants: 20
3. Purpose of training course
To recognize the importance and needed data of hydrology
To acquire the procedure for discharge measures and calculation of discharge
flow.
To acquire methods of measuring flow rate and Making H-Q curve
4. Scene of training course
5. Summary evaluation of training course
The training material is prepared very well but it should be translated in Khmer
because most trainees are not well understood in English.
Duration of training course is not suitable with the training material because the
time of practical site is not enough for checking data collection to process in
computer.
Participant's knowledge on this subject is different level so they difficult to catch
up from the lecture and they have not technical background of this subject.

Survey and Irrigation Planning
1. Period: November5-16, 2012 (9 days)
2. Participants: 20
3. Purpose of training course
To recognize the importance and needed data of hydrology, meteorology and
crop water requirement data for irrigation planning
To acquire the procedure for irrigation planning and the knowledge for making
the irrigation proposal.
To acquire the method for setting up, measurement, data base making and data
processing for hydrology, meteorology, and crop water requirement for irrigation
planning.
4. Scene of training course
5. Summary evaluation of training course
We revised the training material and curriculum including much OJT on the site
and practice. So participants were interested in this training course. And it was
easy to understand for participants.
It was useful for participants to apply for the work at the field in their province
before making design and drawing of any irrigation system.
Before forgetting their knowledge that they could get in training, all participants
should try to use their knowledge.
TSC need translate textbook from English to Khmer.

4. Scene of training course
5. Summary evaluation of training course
Almost all participants were satisfied with this training course and they thought that this
training course was very important to instruct farmers about farmer participatory water
management.
This training is useful for their current work.
We need to continue to provide like this training course and support PDWRAM.

4. Scene of training course
5. Summary evaluation of training course
Some texts were written in English. Some trainees are difficult to
understand the Technical Terms in the training course. So, we translated
the texts to Khmer and many picture are used on the text as much as
possible.
Texts included many practice exercise to understand the design of
reservoir.
TSC will revise the curriculum of Advanced Training Course of Design of
Reservoir training course including the content of this training course for
participants to understand it easily.
