These six pieces for solo piano were published by Boosey & Co., in 1867.A German edition was published by Kistner of Leipzig which designatedthem Op. 14.
An autograph score of Nos. 1 and 2 was acquired by the Pierpont MorganLibrary of New York with other Sullivan autograph material formerlybelonging to Frederic Lehmann. It may be assumed that it was given bySullivan to Nina (Mrs. Frederic) Lehmann with whom he shared musicalexperiences. No. 1 is on six staves with the composer’s signature, Arthur S.Sullivan, clearly added later. No. 2 is on eight staves. However, a differentautograph score of these two pieces was sold at Sotheby’s on 13th June1966.
Boosey gave H. F. Ellingford permission to make an organ arrangement ofthe work on 4th March 1915 and in 1934 H. Finck issued orchestralarrangements of Nos. 1, 4 and 5.
