By-Laws Approval Sunday, February 9, 2020 ~ 6:00 pm The proposed revised by-laws will be presented for church approval at the regular quarterly business meeting to be held on Sunday, February 9, 2020 at 6:00 pm. The by-laws are posted on the downstairs bulletin board and online for review at www.sullivanbaptist.org. Click on the link CHURCH POLICIES at the top of the home page, click on PROPOSED BY-LAWS, type in the password ‘sbc4152’, then click on SBC PROPOSED BY-LAWS to review. Please note that complete copies of the By-laws will NOT be distributed at the business meeting due to the logistics of printing the lengthy document for every person in attendance! Therefore, it is important that every member thoroughly review the by-laws prior to the meeting. If you desire a copy of the proposed by-laws, please print from the online document or contact the church office as soon as possible. If approved, the by-laws will be printed in book form and made available to the entire church. A question and answer session was held on December 8, 2019 to discuss the proposed changes. If questions remain, please see any By-laws Committee Member PRIOR TO THE FEBRUARY 9, 2020 business meeting to assist in clarification. Questions should be directed to Nannie Cox, Greg Feathers, Ed Guinn, or Charlotte Taylor prior to the meeting. These members have worked diligently on behalf of the church to honor our Lord, to enhance church ministry, and to improve church polity. The debate at the business meeting will be FOR or AGAINST the proposal as presented with an “up or down vote” for approval. Further amendments (revisions) to the proposal will be ruled “out- of-order” in this particular matter as this would require the posting and minimum 30-day review process, according to existing By- laws, to begin again in its entirety. Please plan on attending this meeting as a quorum of 181 members (15% of resident membership) is needed to discuss and vote on this critical item of business! A 2 / 3 affirmative vote is required for passage. Thank you! ************************************************************************** Director of Children’s Ministry The Personnel Committee would like to announce that effective March 1, 2020 Mrs. Sharon Arredondo will join the Sullivan Baptist Church staff as Director of Children’s Ministry. Sharon will bring extensive experience to our church family in the Preschool and Children’s Ministry. In her own words, Sharon states, “I consider the Children’s Ministry the most important ministry in the church, and I love working with a team of volunteers to ensure that the children are learning about Jesus and coming to know Him as their Savior – not simply being babysat in child care!” Please pray for Sharon and her family during February as they will be relocating back to this area after living in Nashville for the past several years.
