Section B: Question 2(b):

I would choose to join the Draw and Win Contest because I love drawing and I can draw

very well. I am sure it is possible for me to win. (I am sure I stand a chance to win the

competition). Although the fee is ten ringgit and the most expensive compared to the

other two contests, I think my parents/teachers/school can afford it. It is still within their

budget as I am the only one representing the school. It is on a Saturday at nine in the

morning. It will be suitable for me as I am normally free on the day and time. Besides,

the contest is f rom nine to one o’clock. It takes only fours, so it will not be too long and

tiring. The topic on world peace is interesting. I want to draw what peace means to me.

The competition is in the School Hall and that will be a great place to be as it is fully air-

conditioned. Based on these reasons, I am sure I have made the right choice for myself.

Note

Accept any possible answers but good marks should be given to every reason with

supporting details. Appropriate use of markers/discourse markers can be used and

sentences need to be structurally and grammatically correct.

Eg; The entrance fee is only three ringgit. (Main reason)

It is the cheapest. Therefore, I can afford it because it is within my budget.

Grade B

Lina was alone at the bus stop. Most of her friends had gone home. She had to wait for

another bus because she had missed her school bus home. She did not call her parents

because she had no telephone. The school office was also closed.

Suddenly, a stronger stopped and asked for directions to town. Lina explained to him.

The stranger thanked her for the help and gave her some sweets. She took and ate

them happily.

While she was enjoying the sweets, her friends Aida and Simon came by. They saw

what happened. They warned her not to take anything given by strangers. They also

advised her not to speak to them because they can be bad people. She told them that

she had missed her bus. Aida lent her mobile phone to her. She called her parents to

fetch her quickly because she was very scared.

Grade A

Lina uses school bus to go to school every day. She usually goes back at two in the

afternoon. However, last Thursday, she helped her class teacher in the school library.

She had forgotten to tell the bus driver and her parents. It was already four o’clock when

got out of the library. She decided to take a public bus home.

She waited at the bus stop outside her school gate. She was alone. She knew all her

friends had gone home. Her class teacher did know that she missed her school bus and

she had gone back, too. Lina waited patiently for the four-thirty to arrived. She had no

phone to call her parents and there was no public phone nearby.

While waiting, suddenly a taxi stopped right in front of the bus stop. A stranger came out

and moved towards Lina. He asked for directions to the nearest town. She kindly

explained to him. He thanked her for the helped. Then, he took some sweets out of his

pockets and gave it to her. She took and ate them happily.

Out of the blue, Aida and Simon came by. She was still munching on her sweets. They

saw what had happened. They warned her not to take anything given by strangers.

They also advised her not to speak to them because they could be bad people. She

was shivering when she heard that. She said she was just trying to be nice. She told

them that she had missed her bus home. Aida lent her mobile phone to her. She called

her parents to fetch her as soon as possible because she was very scared. Simon

reminded her to wait in the school compound and never to be alone at a bus stop. She

must also inform her friends if she needs help. She promised she will and never to

repeat her mistake.
