Reading Labels – the basics1. Always look at the serving size

• Typical serving sizes are smaller than most people serve

2. Check the number of calories – high, medium, low is enough

3. Nutrients• More fibre, protein and vitamins and minerals like iron and calcium

4. Eat less Sugar• Sucrose, glucose, high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, maple syrup,

fructose

5. Know your fats• Minimise low saturated, trans fats and cholesterol

• More unsaturated fats (polyunsaturated and monounsaturated)

6. Reduce Sodium; Increase Potassium
