• When Maud saw the boss of thelaundry abusing sexually a girl. And Maud identified with herbecause when she was a little girlwhen the same boss sexuallyabused her.

• It was a cross-class movement. In the film you can see that there weresuffragettes of middle-class and ofhigh society (for example theleader of the movement), but therenot all women were suffragettes.

3. When the women in prison are released, can you see any differencebecause of their social status? Justifyyour answer.

Yes, because high-class women’shusbands paid the bail. Besides, some women left the prison by car and other on foot.

4. What personal and family relatedconsequences doesthe fact of joiningthe Suffragistmovement entail of Maud?

Maud’s husband didn´t let her live with him and also he didn’t allowher to see their child.

5. The film shows some violent actions:

a) What types of planned violent actions are shown in the film? And notplanned?

- The revolutionary acts of suffragettes were planned. The police hitting thewomen after the declarations of the minister was not planned.

b) Can it be said Suffragettes did not want any personal harm and casualties as a result of their actions? Give examples.- Yes, suffragettes didn’t want to harm anyone. For example, when they planned

to destroy the minister’s house they made sure that no one was in the house.c) During one of the conversations which Maud has with the Police Inspector, whatis the reason given by Maud to justify the use of violence?- Because women had been fighting peacefully for their rights for a long time

and they hadn’t obtained anything. ‘The only method are deeds, not words, because war is the only lenguage men listen to’.

d) What situations of explicit and implicit violence against women are shown in the film?- Explicit: When the police began to hit the women after 1st minister

declarations.- Implicit: All the occasions when you could see women were subject to men.

d) Lloyd George: He didn’t want to allow women’s to vote.

e) Mr. Taylor: He didn´t want to allow women’s to vote.
